Default Running out of things to say...

Since about maybe a month ago, I've noticed that everything has sort of slowed down. There aren't as many new threads or posts.

For me, I've run out of original things to say. Every time I think about starting a new thread, I get that sense of foreboding that the first post will be "______ already said this.", that I missed something when I searched first. There is only so much thought that can be pulled out of 2:40, even when we're as dedicated as we are. The wait for Avatar 2 is unbearable, and Avatar 1 hasn't even been released on DVD yet.

There have also been a lot of people taking a break, or just plain disappearing. I understand why someone would want to take a break, because it eventually comes down to posting just for the sake of posting because everyone is running out of ideas, just to keep the forum alive. PAD, meetups, Neytiri, it's all been posted on and reposted to death. As Cyan put it:

There needs to be more original content to talk about, I've noticed that most of my posts have become "Agreed", "Oel ngati kameie", and "QFT" more often. We need some fresh meat, so to speak. I fear that if nothing new happens for a while, ToS will slowly grind to a halt, more and more people will say farewell, and this almost magical place so full of love and understanding will be gone, lost in a mountain of data center bills.

Hopefully this doesn't happen, and I'm worrying for nothing. I can't help but have that terrible sense of foreboding that the next 3 years between now and Avatar 2 will slowly let the community drift apart.

What do you think we could/should do to keep the dream alive?

Well, the Blue Ray is coming up and all, that should provide some ground for discussion! We also got some cool fanprojects and meetups in the works, so don't count out the Tree of Souls board just yet!

It's only natural if the worst (best?) Avatar hype has died down a little. It's been over 4 months since it vent up on the cinemas. Had it been a "normal" movie, it would most likely allready have been out on DVD for a while, and everyone would pretty much had forgotten about it!

Woah, hold on there. I'm not pronouncing the forum dead or anything! I'm just stating my worst fears about the gap between Avatar and Avatar 2, and my hope that ToS will continue to grow.

I think the key to this problem is understanding that Avatar is 2 things...

1. A movie. A cool movie. But just a movie
2. An idea, an inspiration, a movement, a feeling.

Number 2 should be what the threads are about. There's only so much to talk about with Avatar. But Avatar is more than a movie, and the threads should be able to grow into things that go beyond Avatar. For example: I don't spend much time here, but I know what you're talking about. I'm always on AF on the PAD thread. That thread though, the reason why its so active and still remains is because it goes so far beyond the movie. The members on that thread, we rarely talk about PAD or avatar anymore. But we do talk about ways to improve your life and help the world. Everyone is going through interesting times, challenging times, times of change, and that is what we talk about. The good thing is most of these broad topics can be explained using things from Avatar.

So if you want the forums to continue, let the forums grow. Specific threads like "whats your favorite scene" don't last. But "what are you doing today as a result of Avatar" do. Make a "next steps" thread. Everyone talks about how avatar changed their lives, but most people don't know what their next steps are (how to live out the life they discovered from Avatar).

Well that's my thought anyhow..

Well said caveman, I have a few threads in store that when I get time I might put out there. I might do that today in fact. Got the day off so I can come up with something.

Ran out of stuff to say a while ago. I like some of the people I've met here, so I stay, that's it.

Rule 24: Every re-post is always a re-post of a re-post.

As it always has been, as it always shall be. It wont get old that fast. Trust me, stick around for awhile.

Exactly. Things will always be repeated, and there's nothing wrong with that. This isn't the type of community where you're instantly going to get 10 people flaming you and yelling to use the search if you post a repeat topic.

I already see a majority of the real discussion here parting with Avatar the movie and going more into the area of the general effect of it on us all. That will never go away unless you let it.

Yea, but you know, I've had stuff written down that I had wrote especially for the ToS, I'm going to pull out my notebook and start some new threads! Think deep about the movie, think about stuff you missed and try to expand on them... why did JC want that put there? What was the reason for this? Ect. ect. I'll be back once I think of more things

Plus also I think that its mainly a lot of people have just disappeared... and it makes me very sad. I wish people would at least let us know so we can try to talk them out of it. There's only so many of us, and only so much time we can be on here... I'm trying to get a couple people back (J Sully, and Kurtaang [<--was on AF])

But I'm not giving up hope... pointing out things like this only give me hope and inspiration to push forward

It's natural that the amount of news will go down, then there will be something and it will go right up again.

Repeating things doesn't matter so much to me, and there is always discussion... for the first time in my life, I am awake, I See the world for what it is... Not to mention PAD...

Even repeating things isn't a huge issue.

Yes, some people have taken breaks recently, but that's only natural around now, not just her,e but everywhere, with exams and all. And every single one of them has promised to return, because they care about us, and need us as much as we need them.
