So as the title says, after seeing a few movies now other than Avatar, the others just do not seem as good. Now I realize that this can probably be said about any movie that someone is a huge fan of, yet I do not mean only in merely the story aspect. Take tonight for instance, I went and saw Repo Men. At this point I am sure you are saying, "okay....this is completely not even the same type of genre as Avatar", but allow me to continue.
First off, in all the times I have seen Avatar, I am able to completely clear my mind, for those 2 hours and 40 min, my mind is only concentrating on Avatar. I am able to escape my modern worries for that time. This is not something that any movie can compare too. Another point is acting, while some say it was not the best in Avatar, I disagree, I thought they did an awesome job and as you all know I loved Zoe! The last thing I will touch on is the CGI which is an obvious point, so no need to explain. Now how does Repo Men come into play? Well for me no movie I have seen pulls me in as hard as Avatar did, while this may not be every movies intention, I want the movie to take my attention, to fully concentrate on the movie not feel the need to jump on facebook in the middle of the movie. Now on acting for Repo, it actually was not to bad, but what brings me back to Avatar is that it installed such a peace going feeling inside of me. What I mean is before I would have liked a gory movie, seeing people go badass and kill people, but not this does not appeal to me much at all. It seems so many movies at this time are going into a dark world and Avatar brought Pandora which was bright and livid. I realize these are very small points and the two movies really shouldnt be compared. Maybe I am biased, Im not sure. However, all I know is after the movies Ive seen, I still leave the theater thinking about Avatar, even discussing it with my friend on the way home So am I the only one this way? What are you experiences with other movies after seeing Avatar? Thanks for reading.

I can't even really watch other movies any more. I don't normally go to the theater anyway, so I haven't been there other than for Avatar repeats. However, I have a very nice home theater setup and I used to watch a lot of DVDs/blu-rays. However, since seeing Avatar I have not gotten all the way through a single one.
That effect is also valid on other media. I rarely watch TV shows any more, and I have completely stopped playing video games. Reading is about the only thing left that still entertains me post-Avatar. |

What are you two talking about? There's another movie I really can't wait for: Avatar 2.

I have yet to see any other movie after my first viewing of Avatar less than 2 months ago, however, with Avatar's blu-ray release coming closer and closer, I've been preparing a little "home theater" in my household, and to test it out, I plan on getting a movie called 2012. I'll definitely post my experience and thoughts after seeing it. Until then, I'll keep planning my next visits to my theater to watch Avatar.

Agreed, anything I watch after Avatar just seems, bleh to me. There are a few movies I still really enjoy watching, like Airplane is a classic, as well as Fight Club, 28 Days and 28 Weeks later, other zombie movies like Dawn of the Dead, Zombieland, and I cannot think of anything else at the moment haha it's bad. But yea I watched Sherlock Holmes against my will and after I just felt let down. Then The Crazies wasn't terrible but was again like eh. And then there are others like Alice, How to Train Your Dragon, Iron Man 2, ect that I just don't feel like wasting my money on because I feel I won't enjoy it... But Avatar 2 duh it's going to be incredible

Personally, I'll keep on going to the cinema and watch more movies, but Avatar will always have a special place in my heart.

I went to movies soooo much before always seeing something different. Now the girl in the ticket booth knows what I want before I can even ask haha! Its just funny to me how no matter what movie I see, I always walk out and say to myself "shouldve gone to Avatar, would have been more fun and a better way to spend my money"

Yeah most releases do seem kinda "meh" right now after seeing Avatar. But i'm thinking the movie to break that will be "Clash of the Titans" as it looks like a decent action flick that's not geared for little kids or people who take LSD. Still got my other personal favorites but they don't compare to Avatar

Don't worry, I have exactly the same feeling. When I watched Avatar, it was 2 hours 40 of complete and utter immersion and transportation. I wasn't aware I was even in the cinema any more. Now, when I watch other films, I can't help but feel aware of the fact that i'm sat in front of a cinema screen watching a film. Nothing has quite the sense of immersion or, indeed, any sense of immersion at all.

Oel ngati kameie... I've barely watched an other films since Avatar, and really didn't enjoy them as much as I would have before. I haven't even been downloading my regular TV series, just haven't been bothered to because I know it would be almost a waste of time.

Indeed, when I think of Avatar I don't think of a movie, I think of an experience... a transportation to another world for 2 hours and 40 minutes (I wish it was for life) but like said other movies its like... movie haha. Plus I think that other movies are just getting dumb, like after seeing a trailer for Iron Man 2, I thought to myself, "Are movie trailers getting really bad lately or does this just look unappealing?" But before Avatar, ask me about any movie and I'll tell you about it I was a movie fenatic, but now I'm not known as that anymore... I'm known as the Avatar fenatic
and I'm 100,000% okay with that

I definitely agree that movies are becoming worse and worse . Very few are willing to write and film good stories anymore. I think that all of us are getting burned out by constant remakes, etc that have come out in the past decade. I'll see Iron Man 2 since I liked the first one. I don't expect it to be that good though.Avatar is unique and always will be because of the immersive experience and the message that it gives.

hehehe) Neytiri, ect ect ect. I'd think you were out of your mind and think that you obviously didn't know me. I told my friends here that if they told me that I'd have second thoughts about if they truly knew me or not because that doesn't sound like me at all... look at me now
