This title just draws me in. Hi.
Here is what the Na'vi should do: 1# Use tactics and strategy against a superior force. 2# Adapt their weapons to fighting mechanized foes. 3# Use specialized varieties of warriors to do specific objectives. (never send a banshee rider to do a direhorse rider's job lol) Here's what they should NOT do. 1# Completely adopt the ways of human warfare. A completely different opponent is harder to beat than a very similar opponent. 2# Attempt to get back at the Humans. Sure, we don't have Eywa. But taking on Earth!? AND several colonies!? Recipe for destruction. There's my piece. Hope you like.

Well, the advantage they have that Native Americans didn't is unity. IRL, the Europeans would play one tribe against another, exploiting long standing animosities between different tribes. Yeah, Native Americans aren't perfect, no more than any of us, but they really should have had the sense to unite against the invader.
Also, the Na'vi have a common language and deity, something that helps a LOT with communication. Yeah, Eywa has much better mechanisms for keeping the balance than real life Earth does. Last edited by joeylovesgaia; 06-20-2010 at 06:01 PM. |

But the casualties are too great, that will also break the balance of the Na'Vi's population

Seriously though, we have to be realistic here. No matter how many times Eywa saves the Na'vi, the RDA will come back each time, stronger than ever. Eventually, Eywa won't be able to protect them.
The Na'vis only chance is to take action against them. Or perhaps, if they was a civil war or massive insurgent movement on Earth. Oh, and Earth doesn't need a deity. The president of the US fits the bill.

Earth (and therefore humanity) doesn't have that long left, neither does the RDA have unlimited resources.

That's why we're going to other mineral rich planets in 2150.

In the face of a determined invasion, the Navi are doomed whether or not they adopt firearms or not. Their best hope would lie in more human defectors. Having been a skyperson himself, Jake's knowledge would be instrumental in gathering support of those who question their mission on Pandora. I have a big feeling that we will see Selfridge come back and he will be instrumental in determining whether the humans will re-establish a foothold on Pandora or not.

in this case, neither strategy by either the rda or navi was good, the rda were winning though, but they shouldve did a orbital strike

Does ANYBODY actually read the backstory?
They didn't because not only do they not HAVE that capability, but they are limited in their weapons and methods by their contract. ![]()

There is an old, old military maxim: "When it comes to war, amateurs talk strategy, professionals talk logistics". The one enormous advantage the Na'vi have is that any RDA invasion force is operating at the end of an impossibly long logistical train. It takes six years to get anything from Earth to Pandora. Even during the age of exploration and colonization on Earth it didn't take anywhere near that long to transport forces even halfway around the world. Someone here mentioned the American Revolution. One enormous advantage the Americans had was that England was three months away by ship. Pandora is twenty-four times longer away. And the RDA doesn't have all that many ships. To wage an all-out war against the Na'vi would tie up all of their ships for decades--during which time not one kilogram of unobtainium would be going back to Earth because all of the ships would be carrying military supplies and equipment instead of gear to restart the mining operations. Faced with spending trillions of dollars and not getting a single dollar back in return, I think the RDA would turn elsewhere to get its unobtainum. (Yeah, I know that it says that it's only found on Pandora, but that's contrary to everything science knows about solar system formation. If there's unobtainium on Pandora there would also have to be unobtainium on those other moons we see circling Polyphemus.) Hopefully the RDA will have the smarts to leave Pandora alone.

Yea its called napalm. Which has been outlawed along with agent orange and many other Vietnam era tools for clearing the jungles. They could drop Blu-82s and MOABs. Or Colonel Quaritch proved the use of gas as a reliable method of removing the Navi. Maybe a more lethal dosage next time. I would use chemical weapons and surgical strikes on key navi controlled locations.
