I wish the DVD version had the same amount of features as the blu-ray does...

It's probably because it can't hold as much.

It's unfortunate that the DVD version is missing those 5+ additional hours of special features that the Blu-ray version has, but it's because there's three versions of the film, and I'm sure they all wouldn't fit on a single DVD, so they had to spread them out across two DVDs, which only leaves one disc for the special features. DVD's only have so much space, whereas Blu-ray offers so much more space to work with.

Although they could have just used another disc or two, but they want you to buy Blu-ray I'm sure

Yeah I know eh. There's probably so many people that wanted Avatar on Blu-ray, then figured since they didn't have a Blu-ray disc player, couldn't get it, then realized they have a PS3.

I myself just bought a brand new Blu-ray player recently, I gave my "old" one to my parents to use downstairs. They are both Sony players. Sony makes a great Blu-ray player.

Well the Limited Extended Collectors Edition has now sold out on every site that was doing pre-orders for it. So if you got your pre-order congrats.

There are some people selling them on ebay at the moment, (some of these people bought more than one I assume) and the prices range from $160-$243 for one.

....which are?

As far as I know there were only 4 sites offering the Limited Extended Collectors Edition. I'm not talking about the Extended Collectors Edition that is available everywhere. I'm talking about the "Exclusive" edition that is limited to 1000 copies.

That one is very similar to the other, but not the same. The limited one is limited to 1000 copies, and each are individually numbered 1-1000, and the film cell has James Cameron's supposedly "printed" signature.

The one from the link is slightly different, the site mentions nothing about being limited to 1000 copies, doesn't say the film cell has James Cameron's signature on it, and the box cover is missing the number indicating which number it is out of 1000.

But what is interesting, since these two are so similar, I wonder how special/unique the "Limited Edition" one really is.

All I know that's different about the limited edition is that there's the special box it comes in with the film cell (like you said), the hardback booklet of "The Making of Avatar", and maybe some other pamphlet or something. The blu ray discs are the same. There's no new material in the discs from the limited edition that isn't in the collector's. I'm not too worried.

Something I just thought of, I wonder if all the special features are in HD (1080p)?

That would really suck if the special features aren't in HD. I am inclined to think that James Cameron would have them all be in 1080p, let's hope so.

Its probably a 'they already pre-ordered it and once they receive it ship it to the highest bidder' type of thing
