Author's Note:

This is the "flag ship" multi-chapter fic that will ultimately anchor my own personal sequel-universe. All one-shots that are neither "deleted scenes" nor part of my "Five Seconds Too Late" universe are considered part of the "Last Train Home" continuity.

Only two chapters are posted at the moment, but the plot is fully developed and outlined. It will consist of 28 chapters, which are already sketched out and half-written. So even if I don't update for a while, there's very little danger that I'll get writer's block and quit.

Since this is a multi-chapter WIP, I won't be posting the actual story text here. You will have to follow the ffn link. HOWEVER, I will occasionally be posting little sneak peeks and bonus content that will be ToS exclusives. ;-)

As always, reviews and criticisms are very much appreciated. I have anonymous reviews enabled on ffn; you can also post them here.

Here is the first "preview poster" for this story, featuring a quote from a not-yet-published chapter.

In my mind, each of the major characters in LTH has one or more lines that stand out as their "signature quote" for the story. For Neytiri, this one isn't exactly it, but I used it because it doesn't give away massive spoilers.

The other characters will eventually get preview posters too, but I need to find the right screencaps first.

This fic is on hold until at least after the Collector's Edition comes out, as there are a couple potential scenes I'd want to see first in order to best align the fic with "canon."

I'm really eager to start publishing again, though, so as an outlet, I made 2 more "preview posters," this time featuring our favorite (living) science geeks.

So, I finally worked up the courage to read (what can I say, I'm a sap and I adore Trudy and I ship her and Norm liek whoa, and it makes me all sad to think of her as dead. Which is a problem in reading post-canon fics unless they are marked TRUDY LIVES) and oh, I'm glad I did. I really, really am looking forward to where this goes.

And I have to say, I love your take on Norm no end, and his and Jake's conversation made me laugh.

HNM, thanks for the Max screencap! It's perfect. I will use it to replace the current image I'm using for the Max poster. Also, I noticed that you uploaded a high-res image of Jake for me in the Jake HD pictures thread. :-) That one's also great, but there's a very small difference between it and the low-res version I put up. The image I'm after is the smallest split-second before it fades out into the shot of Toruk flying away, where Jake's head is turned all the way to the right. It's a very, very small difference, but if you're looking for excuses to screencap Avatar, well... :-p

I know, Trudy and Norm are awesome, and it's kind of awful that Trudy's dead. Personally, though, I've never been a huge fan of bringing dead characters back, through fanfiction or otherwise. I dunno... it feels like cheating, somehow, and good tragedy has its own perfection that I don't like messing up.

Also, I gotta say... if you already have a hard time reading post-canon fics, "Five seconds too late" would destroy you. :-p

Awesome. I do enjoy Norm, ad he gets a lot of attention in the rest of the fic. You'll get to see more of those kinds of conversations in the upcoming chapters.

And now for some random updates and ramblings!

First some good news: I've finished writing chapter 3. Whoo! The bad news is that I'm not publishing it quite yet, because the structure of the story is such that it makes more sense to upload the chapters two at a time, like I did with the first 2 chapters. The good news there is that chapter 4 is 90% finished as well. Except I still need to study the CE and sort out my avatar-driver OCs before I can make any more progress on that front. But Ash is helping me with that, so good news overall!
