Ahh... I've talked with Avonaco on his ideas of who the villian could be, and he's said things like how the villian could be another new Na'vi character introduced. I had a character outline I made of a rogue Na'vi working for the RDA... forgot where I posted it though; it's somewhere on AF.

Actually, I hope that doesn't happen. I prefer the idea of all the Na'vi being honouable and pure throughout the trilogy. But it could work if the Na'vi in question does it to get power and then betrays the RDA as well.

Yeah, having a traitor Na'vi would tend to crack the image JC really tried to stress for them. (as would having a sympathetic RDA leader...)

Definitely... put that on the pile of 'storylines that won't happen and really never should' along with 'cloning' and 'Quaritch's brother'

I like that idea... "A Backfire"...lol. Just when RDA thinks that they have the upper hand in their quest to conquer Pandora and the Na'vi.... this "would be turncoat" pulls the lever on RDA and the floor drops out from beneath them. It sounds alot like Jake's role in the original movie tho. Now I'm not so sure.

Yes, I thought the it sounded alot like Jake's role in the movie when I wrote the post. So if he did have that storyline then JC would be accused of ripping off himself.

The other thing that could happen is that a rogue Na'vi may rebel agains the Skypeople presence on Pandora leading to a civil war. However, that soundslike a bit mundane for a scifi flick unless the Na'vi calls on the usual ancient evil power, which would be oh so cliched.

Just to keep this vaguely on topic, I suppose Stephen lang could be used as one of the rebel Na'vi, although he wouldn't be playing Quaritch.

Or perhaps he will combine himself with Quaritch to become some sort of hybrid Na'vi/human who has all the strength of a Na'vi but the ambition and hatred of a human. However, this sounds a bit much like Michael in SGA to me.

In general, I am not so keen on the Na'vi civil war, at least not as the main threat as it justs sounds too dull and not very satisfying to Na'vi fans. I would rather have a new threat. We can live with seeing Na'vi suffering and dying (except Neytiri of course), but only if they stay true to their principles.

...I think I actually like the idea of some of the Na'vi having different goals and ambitions to the Jake and Neytiri and Co. It makes them more real to me, and far more complex and interesting.

But on the subject of Quaritch...yeah, I really hope he doesn't come back. He was a good bad guy, and he DIED.

Yes, it could work out. And it is clear that disagreements between the Na'vi are not impossible. Neytiri and Tsu-Tey almost came to blows over Jake.

But I just hope the Na'vi are not portrayed as too human. I would like them to have goals that make sense to the Na'vi, but not necessarily to us.

They may disagree, but they don't go that far... they aren't skypeople after all.

As fictional characters they may not go that far.

They just won't. I really hope they don't. It'd mean Avatar's storyline didn't accomplish anything other than bringing Jake to the Na'vi. It would kill it for me.

Exactly... I think JC has the sense not to though, because there really is a message and thaw was certainly planned. The truth is, there are just some people who will never change.

Agreed. If Quaritch stays dead, he will remain an great iconic villain. If he comes back, he will just become a farce.

Here is another way Quaritch can come back:

Some entity on Pandora uses Quaritch's body for some nefast purpose. A bit like the insect in Men-in-Black. But that is a really bad idea.

I don't think there is any way period (besides a short flashback) to bring Quaritch back. He is dead and there really isn't any plausible/non-cheesy/non-cliche way of reviving him.

On a side note, shouldn't this be in the sequel forums?
