well fortunately this is what's being implemented in Africa. poachers are shot dead if they are caught trying to hunt the endangered species (or maybe even any animal) this year a group of soldiers were killed by rangers because they killed some elephants. too bad the elephants died

Seriously, anyone who says that they wish someone to be hunted down, murdered, and decapitated because they killed a deer has lost all credibility in my mind...

I feel with all of you about this deer's death. It's very sad. But some of the comments here are so incredibly extreme...

So true. Though it is sad the deer died, its no reason to go to extremes. Its just a deer. Its over. Move on.

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

If the individual that did this is does not face any consequences, what is to stop it happening again and again? I believe in justice and respect for all living things. If a human was shot and his/her head removed as a trophy, people would be horrified. My views may seem extreme but they are so only so because I want to ensure creatures like these aren't abused in the future. It's not the fact that the beast was killed that makes me angry, it's that it was killed for a trivial reason, that's what infuriates me. That is all I wish to say.

So, you'd be willing to carry out a horrific action on humans (who are obviously more important than deer) just to prevent people from killing more deer?

...See, this is why humans are civilized, like possessing self-control, and calmly telling others to not do things they do. Most of the time, it works on things like animal rights activism. Sometimes it doesn't work out. That's life. The deer's death is sad. Boo hoo. Should we start murdering people?

I keep thinking about the mouse joke from David Crowe, about how killing something really big is sort of... easy.

"I mean, isn't the giant moose the easiest thing to kill? It's like... the biggest target. Get a mouse head up there; that shows how well you can shoot. Yeah [tough voice], I got the head of this mouse from 200 yards off. Mounted it up there... couldn't find the body though, that thing was just blown right off, man...

Here's a hummingbird I shot just last week with my crossbow; mounted it right up next to the mouse head... that was the second shot. First shot I got the old lady with the feeder; she's up over there next to her crooked finger; cut that off, mounted it on the next panel."

exactly, it wouldnt be hard to kill something that big with a gun. and the hunter must think he's the fuken man for getting such an "awesome" kill -_- some may not agree but IMO killing an animal with a gun isn't that awesome. with a blade? well, if the animal is tough then it may put up a good fight, but why do it if you're not going to eat it.

Hunting is completely different to how it was, how it should be done. Now it's just people who kill for fun, with everything to make it easy for them.

I have no problem with hunting on a small scale for actual food and actually using what people kill, but not for fun and not for killing the exceptional individuals of a population for no reason

The reason I posted this story is just to show that there are other things going on besides the human race, because it's often forgotten about.

Yes, it is shocking what happenes on a weekly - even a daily - basis in places like Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, but like I say, often we can get so involved thinking about what's going on there that we forget to think about the other sides of the spectrum. Deforestation, loss of habitat, the killing of animals for sport... Our general impact, as a race, aside from the effect on one another.

Just trying to spread the word on the generally ignored and forgotten other side.

Did you really just compare sport hunting to deforestation and war?

/facepalm
