Kaltxi folks,
Sorry for the slow response from me. It's been quite a ride the past 5 days and I'm now playing catch up. I've been busy sorting photos out and stuff which I have provided links to below. Just to respond to a few points: @SaphirJD - Are there not more people from Austria on here or AF? I know there are people from Germany about. Maybe you could join a meet up with some of them? Perhaps an ideal opportunity with the Collectors Edition coming out in six days!!! :nwink: @ Banefull - Yeah, and Avatar is going to be shown two more times at the IMAX in Brimingham this coming Friday and Saturday before it is finally pulled for Harry Potter. @Empty Glass - Well I know there is a lot of people over your way in America who would love to have a meet up. Maybe start a thread going to gauge how many and where and when. With the collector's edition coming our in 6 days is there an opportunity to have a fan screening? I've uploaded some more pictures from our meet up here. And here are a some piccies from Oxford. Ok well, following our wonderful tour of Oxford, Unil and I ventured north to York, continuing our mini-meet up. York, like Oxford is an old city steeped in history. Visits were made to York Minster, where we were given a guided tour. After which we frequented the Pizza Hut before visiting the Jorvik centre to learn about the vikings who lived in the city. Following that it was a trip to my favorate place - the National Railway Museum! We were treated to a bit of a behind the scenes of a replica on the first ever successful steam locomotive, a talk on how a steam locomotive works and got to stand next to the steam locomotive from Harry Potter - Hogwarts Castle before finally getting access to the footplate of a express steam locomotive - Unil sat in the drivers seat! Here's the pictures. Before long we had to return south... The following day we got up at Stupid o'clock and caught the train down to Cardiff. Unil was now going to be the tour guide as he knows Cardiff quite well! First stop was the Millenium Stadium - home of Welsh rugby. It was a huge place and we manage to take a couple of piccies. Next stop was Cardiff Castle - Wales is full of castles - to keep us English out ! Ha, ha, ha . We were given these mobile audio description gizmos, which looked like Star Trek communicators. Don't think we used them in the end.Next stop was the Museum of Wales to learn about all sorts of stuff from geology through to pottery! For dinner Unil took me to 'O'Neils' which is an Irish pub, and very good it was too. For the afternoon we had a boat trip down to Cardiff Bay, where the Welsh Assembly is and also where Doctor Who and Tourchwood is filmed. Click here for some piccies. Before all too long our meet up was coming to an end and it was time to part company. We said our kiyevames at the station and made our own separate ways home. Unil across the Atlantic and me just a little trip north on the train to the Midlands. What a remarkable past five days it has been for us all. Just IRAYO to everyone who took part in the film project, those who came to the meet up and those of you who were unable to make it but gave your well wishes and words of kindness. As Unil said to me, you know the forum has matured when events like this happen, you now know people by their real names and consider them close friends. It has been a remarkable and wonderful journey we have been on and I feel privileged to have shared it with you all. Irayo, my friends. ![]() Oel ngati kameie, Alan |
