Thanks everyone for sharing. :-)
I have some questions about the deleted scene where Max and the avatars take over Hell's Gate. How many avatars are shown participating in that attack? Is it possible to tell if any non-avatar-driver scientists participated? (other than Max) Also, any details you can glean about the individual avatars and their drivers would be greatly appreciated (gender, identifying which humans we see in the movie might be avatar-drivers, etc). I'm interested because I'm writing a fanfic avatar sequel, so I'm trying to gain the best understanding possible of the group that remained on Pandora after the rest of the humans left.

I think the backstory scene with Grace of the school incident was the best addition to the movie. That really should've been in the first cut of the film
I can see why the Earth scene never made the original movie. I guess it was just for our curiosity but the entire sequence is summed up pretty well in the first cut and it flows better too. Though still extremely interesting to have it included. I can't believe its been 11 months. I remember talking about the November release back in January. Oh by the way, anyone experienced a return of PAD? |

Well after watching the entire thing I think my favorite cut so far is the extended theatrical release. The earth scene isn't bad, and i'm glad we get to see it but yeah, the original opening does flow a bit better. Hearing Grace tell Jake about what happened at the school and to Neytiri's sister was just

Definitely...
![]() I agree about the Earth scene... the rest fit in fairly well, but that one was a bit long, although nice to see the first time. I wish there were more Na'vi in the new scenes though, nobody cares about skypeople... No uniltaron made me sad, same with no attack on Hell's Gate..

Yeah we only get to see a template version of the scene in the deleted scenes.

Interesting point...
Avatar 2 Movie: Ending Scene Is Key to ‘Avatar’ Sequels: Pregnant Na’vis I'll be interested to see how this goes into the sequel... hopefully it will be far enough in the future that their child won't be stopping them form doing things, but will be nice to see ![]() I still want more Jake and Neytiri, although good point that their children could be another storyline off the main trilogy

To those who have the blu-ray,
how are the exclusives that you only got and the DVD didn't? What are they like?

If you like it, talk about it here Oh and I think it was the PAD that kept me up all night eaither that or I was going to have it today but it was the deleated scenes that kept me from getting it becuase I was so Pumped when I finally saw Selfrige get screwed. Edit: 1 hout later. I suddenly stopped doing things for a short moment. It might have been PAD, But I'm getting over it quickly.

I loved the scene where Jake is touching Neytiri`s belly while he`s saying the words "New life", and also the Dance scene after the hunt. I would love to see it fully rendered.
But I have to agree, I liked the original opening more...maybe cause I`m so fond of it, I dunno, but imo it suits the movie better than the Earth scene.

Yeah, the Earth opening drags on a bit... was good the first time, and the SE is still good for the other deleted scenes, but last time I actually watched the rerelease version, which has a good balance, I think, with the best finished deleted scenes included. That said, I wish they could have finished the uniltaron and attack on Hell's Gate, those were the two I was REALLY hoping for

After viewing the CE (which I took essentially a whole day watching EVERYTHING on the DVDs):
The Earth opening was awesome. I loved how Bladerunner it was. I also liked the way that the audio was re-cut, it seems to fit the film better. I wish that they had completed the cut scenes with Quaritch and Selfridge. They wouldn't have required a whole lot of man hours to complete, and I think that they open up the story a bit. They make Quaritch more of an insidious manipulator, and Selfridge less of a scumbag. I liked the cut version of Jake's "This is how it's done," over the theatrical too. Most of the cut out Na'vi stuff didn't really do anything for me. In fact, with the exception of the afore mentioned, I can see why the cut material was cut. The documentaries were both enjoyable The "Message from Pandora" was enlightening and I enjoyed the "Making of" very much.

Which parts? I don't recall noticing any scenes being noticeably shorter.
