Default Kaltxi Na'viyä

Yep, here I am... and those remembering my name from AF will recognize me (I hope) by name as well as by ma trademark wiggling of my toes.

About my user name:

Essentially, that was born from my sense of humor, since I can't deny that part of my RL physique... txim means "butt" or "rear end" and asawl is a lenited form *) of the adjective tsawl, meaning "big" - so, the name means: "big butt".

*) I do believe, that in the sense of keeping pronunciation simple, were Na'vi a living language - which die-hard language fans might insist on being, actually - lenition will occur whenever it's easier to pronounce a lenited form. Therefore, in everyday speech, the adjective "tsawl" affixed to a noun, normally and correctly becoming "atsawl" would be easier to pronounce "asawl".

About me:

The footnote about my user name kind of showed that I have a little linguistic background, which derives from my college studies about twenty-three years ago, when I planned to become a teacher of English and Social Sciences (a mix-up subject of politics, sociology and economy, taught at high schools in Germany). That plan didn't come to fruition, since I chose a different path in life, including living in an alternative commune for a few years. The goals of what I thought would be ideal teaching and the realities of school life just didn't match. In order to pay the bills coming from living a "normal" life in a small apartment, having my internet access and so on, I am working in a "normal" office environment, responsible for personnel planning, reports and statistics for a customer of the call center I work for.

Being in my forties, I am certainly among the "elder" group of Avatards out there, but I still do some things that keep me from feeling old - I make sure to let my inner flower child come out to serve as a welcome counterweight to the demands and deadlines of the normal and regular world, which is currently on its way to become the sad and dreary place portrayed in the beginning of our favourite movie as well as in the introduction to the "Activist Survival Guide". I am doing what I can to prevent that from happening and also tell others (and younger people), that there's still hope this might not happen, if they did their part, too.

Speaking of my "inner flower child" is also the basis of my favourite footwear: none at all. I hate shoes, and apart from frosty weather or adverse ground conditions and social demands (such as the work environment), I walk barefoot whenever I can. My college days were a barefoot paradise, since I went there barefoot on a 24/7 basis.

Well, that should explain a little about me, my name and my trademark toe movement.

Wiggling bare toes,

~*Txim Asawl*~
