Human Health Vs. Earth's Health.

Yesterday night I had some moments to meditate on how our health influences nature's health and I started to think about all what we did to harm our mother and we need to change our trajectory before she comes into play and starts to scatter the roaches.

Since our existence we tried to exploit territories, to make the nature our disposal in terms we can't even imagine in the present days. But we showed that we can make our way with simple tools, without destroying the ecosystem and without disturbing nature peace. In present days, we cut squared miles/ kilometers of forests, we dig into the ground in a continous mode so the Earth became to heat itself creating this desert effect we will face sooner than we think. The trees keep the maintenance of water cycles in the ground and over the ground and when we cut it, a source of water and of good oxygen is history. On TV here was a talk show the other night between two scientists, a psychologist and an environmentalist who started to put into subject the Avatar experience. Remember when Eywa fought for Pandora sending all beings on the planet to fight against human army, against The Great Sorrow ? This is what Earth will do with us... It's like when your kitchen gets filled with roaches, what you do ? You get the spray and you eliminate the threat inside. Or like when an eagle is flying around a forest, a hunter spots it and shoots.

The thing is the people on Pandora were really connected to her, physically and psychologically too... they feel what their "home" needs, what she is... They are integrated into their own environment and Eywa is on their side, eventhough Neytiri said "Eywa does not change sides, she's just protecting the ballance of life". We are not connected to our Earth, we're connected and we're getting connected with each day to materialism, corporatism and invidualism. Our sacred roots are gone since the Middle Ages, or since Renaissance... And bringing the un-health to nature started after 1770 (?) when the first coal powered train and when oil started to be exploited from ground. When billions of forests were cut to make place for new cities and new villages of biggest scale ever seen at that time. Imagine New York, with its impressive composition grill, its amazing skyscrapers and its Central Park... even with that enormous park NY has NO SOURCE of pure oxygen, cause if you look down from Google Earth, the streets are filled with thousands of yellow taxis, busses and filled-with-cars intersections of roads. All the rectangles of that grill are filled with buildings, none has another park or few trees. The same thing happens to my town, where they started to build everywhere they can without no authorization and without thinking about environment.

People in Amazonia don't care about the big cities... we cut from their forests to build freeways, they now have no source to feed from, their ecosystem is being damaged with each passing minute... and the officials said to the savage people : "If you don't want us to destroy your land, you must pay for this". This cannot be... I mean, imagine saying that to the Na'Vi people, they would shoot arrow to your chest in the next second. Why do we stay and do nothing ? It's a proof that we're like them, we need our safe environment too, we need to be safe too... the people with money don't need to be safe !

If we don't act soon, we won't be able to live in a totally heated environment, an environment without safe water and safe air to breathe. We already live chemical thinking about what we eat that became more than 75-80% artificial. Even traditional food has ingredients chemical... stuff. We drink chemical drinks cause the water is calcarous, it's unsafe if we drink it. If we don't bring safe living to ourselves, we harm Earth and she will begin to fight back, and she already started... the proof are the earthquakes that stroke our lands in Chile, Sumatra, Taiwan, California...

I agree that human health and environmental health go together and that we have cut ourselves off from nature to our own detriment. That is why we need to make better use of resources and find ways to help our planet and each other. It won't help if we continue on the path of corporatism, etc. It also won't help if some governments were to make laws to limit our population by aborting, sterilizing, or even allowing people to starve. We should learn to respect and love all of life. To see both human and animal/plant life as gifts and to be treated as such instead of trash to be thrown away like your second pic.

Amen! I sure hope this new board doesn't go the way Avatar-Forums did becoming a Radical Leftists only website. So far only NaviBlue has managed to stay off that path remaining an Avatar movie fans board with an environmental conscience. I'm glad to be here and glad I was invited by fellow member Woodsprite.

It's where we are now, at this moment. Same "view" I get when I visit parts of my town and when I look at other big towns on the Globe, many of the natural surroundings are treated like this and nobody cares about it. Many organisations are borned after catastrophies but none acts positively, and always get on the budget subject which has no connection with what we can do... if we start on the budget line all we can do is give up, money isn't the factor for protecting the nature we live in.

I know, it is sad. That is where we can help by being more environmentally conscious while we help our fellow man. The two go together . I am upset with the way our natural surroundings are being treated. There are too many with an "i don't care" attitude.

No, it didn't Spock, not completely. However, I don't like some of the google ads that were put on there. I won't go into details on which one because I don't want a flame war on here. We are trying to get back the positive feelings and friendship on this board .

That's right, please don't ruin the topic I started it for a purpose tho' and I don't like conflicts about "this and that". Both forums are great, I feel like home in the both places, and I don't know why all of these happened... but whatever, let's say thanks that we are united and that we have these places.

Just had a course today on how urbanism should or should not influence the environment and jumped to conclusion that all comes after a planning. Just that people don't respect the plannings which involve protecting the space too... if we become a threat to the environment, than the war will come to us, and it isn't good.

People like Selfridge and Quaritch make the world be in bad conditions.

This is sadly true. It used to be that cities and towns were planned on a grid with a common in the middle (usually used for grazing livestock). Many of the people would live outside of the town, etc. Now, with urban sprawl there is no real planning, just strip trees for a strip mall here or strip an area for more condos. Many of these places stay empty which defeats the purpose of building them in the first place.

I agree that there are to many Selfridges and Quaritchs around .

Mankind will survive, of that I have no doubt... one way or another, even if that means living like in the Fallout series. We're too creative to die out due to environmental problems, unless there's suddenly a whole lot of magma covering the earth's surface... Other animals and/or plants however? They're not as flexible, they can't just take their stuff and move to shelter.
At the rate technology is advancing today though, it wouldn't surprise me if we didn't need plants to sustain the earth with enough oxygen for us to survive within a hundred years, and that'll satisfy the majority of earths population

We're not conscient on what we've done. Certain thing is that we will pay one way or another, sooner than we think and faster than history and stargazers predicted.
