I don't know if they preserved Grace's avatar body, it could be possible to get her back with Eywa's will, but as we all know, Eywa protects the ballance of life, she doesn't take sides. Even if it's about a wounded being, she can't return the soul to the body.
There could be the hypothesis for new characters to come on Pandora and do the same trick with learning being a Na'vi, but that's already done. We must wait...

Exactly, that's the problem with the deleted scenes, if they are canon or not (with the exception of ones confirmed elsewhere such as the dreamhunt). There are a few (primarily the challenge one) which really didn't seem to fit so I was actually happy it was left out, the same goes for the end scene showing Neytiri pregnant - that would certainly restrict what she could do in the next film if she had a small child around, so I was guessing that maybe part of the reason it was left out was to give more options for the sequel. I guess we will just have to wait and find out...

How bout Tom Sully? & not as an avatar but as a straight up Navi species? Maybe they re-engineer the "link" (link technology n link room).... Just for a moment, think of how he could be back in Avatar 2 or 3. & a plot basis ciuld be Jake is in trouble & unexpectedly Tom shows up or saves him....?
I dont know, it seems like it would be cool for Tom to appear in some way. You'd think the tech or bio-tech is possible. -any thoughts? |

Tom's brain is dead and cremated. Unless you travel back in time right before the moment before he was stabbed and beam his brain out, you're not bringing him back.

Via his dna? Essentially a clone..... the humans have to have been experimenting/succeeding with human cloning for avatars to be possible....

Well then... We already have a clone of Tom Sully, and his name is Jake. Quaritch wanted ten more like him, but my guess would be that he doesn't any more. And I, like the Na'vi, have a strong preference for another way of making new people.

Even if he was cloned, he would have no memory, he'd be an empty body (and as mentioned before, Jake has the same DNA anyway). Cloning does not work the cheap bad scifi 'instant copy with all memories' way, at all.

Why Na'vi? A completely different yet sentient underwater species. Whale-like perhaps.

He's already mentioned it will show more of the Na'vi. Neither is it set entirely underwater or anything.

I'd like to see human avatars made for the Na'vi. Well, ok, mostly joking, but wouldn't that be interesting? Off hand, I can't immediately think of a scenario that justifies it... Na'vi somehow having a hand in Earth's redemption or something...? Nahhh!! Too complicated!
Several months ago I was in the midst of writing a fairly graphic fanfic about the healing of Norm's avatar and what happened to Grace's avatar after she died. I should dust that off a finish it! |

That would genuinely ruin so much of the beautiful message and themes. Might as well being back all the dead characters while they are at it. Fortunately JC isn't stupid, and he does not make bad films, so that won't happen
