From a purely tactical point of view, I wonder why you take Tali as she corresponds too closely to you Engineer. I would prefer to take someone with biotics. Your choice of Zaheed makes sense as he is heavily combat orientated and can provide good firepower.

I agree that Tali is underpowered. She is really a specialist who is great against Geth and similar enemies. But there are much better squad members who are much more useful against non-AI enemies.

Of course, you may have purely roll playing reasons for taking Tali. Or you just enjoy having her long. Both of which are equally valid reasons.

Yeah Tali is underpowered and it gets frustrating how many times she ends up dying on a particular mission. But she adds a lot to the story of the game so that's why she usually ends up on my team, as does Garrus. They're awesome.

I just finished the Shadow Broker DLC. Nice to have the old Liara back, even if she is a squad member for just one mission.

Also, people who consider Tali underpowered have obviously not been playing on insanity, where she is arguably one of the better characters - although she's not as useful on easier difficulties, at that level then once you have a reasonable amount of skill it doesn't really matter.

I've only played on Insanity once, and then I chose (what I thought at the time were) more effective characters like Grunt and Thane/Jack/Samara. Never chose Tali on Insanity.

I play on hardcore just so the gameplay doesn't become tedious and so I can enjoy the story equally. I prefer Mass Effect that way.
