Hmm, now you are putting into another perspective than what I saw... interesting. Yes, I would approve to that I can actually kinda see it; What if the crew made mutiny on the ISV and Selfridge had to escape back down or something? We'd see him land in an escape pod, all jungle surrounding him. The scenes would probably switch from Jakes to Selfridge's perspective , just staying close to his pod. Maybe a Na'vi patrol finds him later on? They call Jake, and Jake let Selfridge get another chance with the clan, maybe even cooperating and giving usable Intel, who knows.

Tbh, this sounds EXACTLY like a FF I've read... where Selfridge has to stay with the Na'vi in his human form until his Na'vi will be fully bred and ready to go!
