I've decided to start a personal random thoughts thread, one a bit more philosophical and personal that the thread in the general discussion board. Finally a place to put down those little thoughts or short rants that pop into my head, but I usually end up letting drift away. Not any longer, though. I've gotten diligent about writing them down in my iphone right as I am thinking them. Nothing but raw, emotional, philosophical thoughts. Be warned though, as such they can be confusing or hard to grasp sometimes.
Random Thought #1 - Humanity and Nature It always depressed me to think that humanity's only chance for survival was to wall ourselves off from every other living creature on this planet (except for the select few we saw fit to join our special little club, some to keep as pets, others to feast on). Are we really that weak of a species?* Will we all really just shrivel up and die if we all aren't chugging along as wage slaves and consumers, all part of one large glass, steel, and concrete capitalist machine operating in a hermetically-sealed, climate-controlled bubble? Is this really the only way for our species to "thrive?" In a vacuum? Is this what life was meant to be? Is this the pinnacle of human existence? Of course it is, the guy on TV told me so. He also told me I'm a free thinker. Random Thought #2 - All this, for what? All the trips to the moon, all the atoms smashed, all the blood shed, for what? So that the average shlub can hobble around a dimly lit K-Mart looking for cheap **** to make his miserable life a smidge brighter? All this blood, sweat, and tears over thousands of years of civilization...all those revolutionary minds...all those revolutionary ideas...all the EFFORT, the TOIL... ...for K-Mart?*Talk about wasted potential.* Or maybe not, let's not forget Pyrex. Take pride in the fact that the same glass that brought men to the moon, you can eat your processed food off of while watching Seinfeld reruns. Talk about progress! High-tech subsistence. That's all for now, more will come as more thoughts come. Hopefully someday this thread will be a nice catalogue of my slow descent into madness.

"You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling." - Inception "Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden Last edited by Tsyal Makto; 01-19-2011 at 08:12 AM. |

It's not the only choice - it's what people have been told is the only choice. The only reason humans have survived this long is adaptability and intelligence. That fact is why people can change it. It will happen, when the illusion of everything going right finally collapses, as more people wake up and realise they were misled.
