Revolutionaries always find a way, even if the government tries to put the boots down, the people will find a way to fight it. Somehow...somehow...the fight will go on.
I don't really think the Egyptian government knows how deep this goes, or the entire Arab world for that matter. This has been a powderkeg of anger that has been growing for decades, if not longer, and every year, the right-wing religious, economic, and social repression that grips that society causes that powderkeg to fill a little more. It was inevitable that eventually something would set it off (quite ironically the self-immolation of Mohammed Bouazizi). If the Egyptian (and soon Yemenese) government wants this to involve as little bloodshed as possible, they should just step aside, but unfortunately it doesn't look like it will go down like that.

"You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling." - Inception "Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden |
