Kaltxi ma aysmukan sė smuke. I had an idea on being able to spot one another. I am ordering a few of these shirts for some friends of mine and I was going to check about getting a discount on the shipping for these shirts. Just an idea, if anyone would be interested in getting one maybe this might be the way to spot one another. If I order more than 4 T-shirts we can get FREE SHIPPING which the shipping is close to $6.00. Let me know if you would be interested. The sizes are SMALL to XXXL and you can choose your color of T-SHIRT as well. The shirts are $23.94 each.
I am guessing most of you are going the opening day which is June 4? ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'm definitely planning on coming over for opening day. I sent my passport application off last week. Unfortunately it takes six weeks. But definitely going to do everything I can to meet up with ma aysmukan si aysmuke.
I've also got a cunning plan. In fact it is so cunning, you could call me a fox! But more about that later... ![]() If I do make it across it'll be the biggest adventure of my life and all because of a film called Avatar and my new friends I have found as a result. Oel ngati kameie...I hope. |

Kaltxi, clanmates!
So, I'm starting to make my travel plans for attending the opening weekend of the Seattle Avatar exhibit, and I found a list of possible hotels in the vicinity of the Seattle Center (that's where the Sci-Fi museum is located). Since I'm assuming a group of us Avatarans who'll be there for the opening weekend would like to all stay in the same hotel (if at all possible), I wanted to post this initial list of hotels here. I haven't looked at room rates for these hotels yet, but I imagine these are some of the more "inexpensive" hotels, and they're within walking distance of the museum. So perhaps a group of us attending the exhibit the weekend of June 4 - 5, 2011 will choose one of these hotels as our "home base"? - Best Western Executive Inn (1 block away from the Seattle Center) - Hampton Inn & Suites Seattle Downtown (2 blocks away from the Center) - Travelodge Seattle Space Needle (3 blocks away) - Quality Inn Seattle Downtown (3 blocks away) - Holiday Inn Express Seattle (4 blocks away) These hotels are listed on a webpage for the Seattle Center (Seattle Hotels - Seattle Center and Space Needle - Seattle WA).

Yep, those are probably the best deals for proximity to the EMP/Sci-fi museum. There are also a couple of slightly more expensive places right along the monorail line to the EMP, including the Westin.
...or you guys can just pitch your tents in my back yard and we can pretend to be the Sea-Ikran Clan. Not sure how the family and neighbors would do with that, but it's fun to think about.

![]() @CyanRachel: I believe that that is indeed good information to have. I think that the steps we need to take are: 1. Within the next few months get a definite list of who is going and where they are coming from. 2. Arrange all of the technical details (which hotel, dates, day plans...ect) 3. See if anyone needs a ride or see who would be able to carpool with who. 4. Decide the smaller details (all wear the same shirt, group activities) 5. Meetup in Seattle (or different place for carpooling) I'm pretty sure I can make it based on the dates so far, and I would like to carpool with people along the way to save on gas and to avoid 20 hours of driving alone... So... I think that we should get a list together of people that can come, where they are coming from, and get the date decided soon... |

I think all the information from everyone and ideas listed sounds great!! As I haven mentioned, I am DEFINITELY going for the opening weekend of June 4 and a few friends from the AVATAR TYPEPAD COMMUNITY are going too. I would love to see all us wearing the same shirts whether its our Pandora Blueskins or maybe we can see about getting those TOS t-shirts made up with our usernames on back that was mentioned in FEEDBACK thread here on TOS.
I am just waiting now for my tax return to arrive and once I get that, I will be purchasing my airfare. Thanks Cyan for all the helpful information on the hotels. I am personally going to look into HAMPTON INN just because a few of us might be sharing a room/suite as a cost savings. Once I get my airfare locked in and paid for, I will be calling hotels and will let everyone know what kinds of prices we will be looking at. ![]()

Whoa!
This thread took off... Quote:
It looks like a new car might be in the works for me, but I'm not a terribly experienced driver yet, so at this point I'll likely wind up needing to carpool anyway. Seattle is a bit far for someone still getting used to driving... And, holy crap, I can't believe Alan is coming. I think the shirt idea is cool. Originally, I thought it would be fun to play a game where we have to guess each other's usernames, but that wouldn't work very well because of the carpooling and because some of us have posted our pictures on the forums already. And, I like the hotel idea as well. Something close but not terribly expensive would be ideal for me. This is going to be very interesting......

On the hotel issue, I do agree, less expensive, but not some cheap dead-end hotel either. Usernames, as you mentioned might not work out, but a good idea. Quote:
awesomeness! If possible we should do that!!!In regard to the hotels, the info would be great to have. |

YEAH!!! This is my 200th post! COOL!
![]() I will definitely let everyone know once I can find out on the hotel prices. Cyan gave a great list to start out with for sure and thanks Cyan for the info! As far as the TOS shirts, I don't know if there is someone in particular here like admins or mods that could only do them or if one of us member could design a shirt. I have no ideas on how that would work but any info would be appreciated on a designing of a TOS official T-Shirt to wear to the exhibition.
