I don't understand why people keep saying The Hurt Locker is pro-war.
It's really not. And even if it were, do you guys not understand the political stance of the Academy? I.e. very liberal. I.e. very against war. So... this wouldn't exactly help its cause anyway. If it were a historical film then perhaps, but this is not. It may not be blatantly anti-war, but it shouldn't have to be. The political bump it got was probably more because it's simply depicting a very important (and current) event in US/world history. And do you guys remember when JC himself said Kathryn deserved to win? And that The Hurt Locker was excellent and all that? |

I never got that vibe from "The Hurt Locker".
I thought it was anti-war and pro-troops. EDIT: Are you sure Cameron said that Katherine deserved the award? or did he say something else, like "I'm happy that she won"? I think it was the latter; I don't remember him saying she deserved the award. That would've defeated the purpose of his even trying to urge the Academy to consider all sorts of nominations for Avatar, like Zoe Saldana for example. Yes, that's true. Then let us hope that he was wrong.
