I see no way they could have gotten it back to Hell's Gate, being in the predicament they were in. But they could have gotten it there after the war... But for what purpose? To make more avatars using the DNA?
Well, the avatars seem to be able to lie around a few days without food. And Norm's avatar was shot. And the movie is less clear about the fate of his avatar than the script and deleted scenes are... Maybe in an opening flashback at the beginning of Avatar II, we see Norm's avatar being saved by a organ transplant from Grace's avatar.

In the shoulder?
Yeah, lots of vital organs there

Norm's avatar was probably badly injured, but would just need to go back into one of those tanks to recover for a while.

I think he was killed. He was probably shot in many places in his upper left tortso, including his heart. When he fell down, he was clearly unconscious.

Well... maybe not in a human... And you never know what a day of steady blood-loss will do.

A pity, but probably true. I hope not, though. I hope that the reason the deleted scene was deleted was because JC decided to leave open the possibility of Norm's avatar being in the sequels. Not having one really seems to limit his potential.

Back to Grace, though...

IMO, she'll come back as some apparition of Eywa, like a Prophet. ^_^

I think that the reason that scene was not done was in order to leave options open - much like the ending scene where Neytiri is pregnant - if that was in the film, JC would be a lot more restricted in what could happen in the sequel. Equally, while I don't think Trudy will come back , then you never see her actually die - although I don't consider it likely (especially if Grace will be back), it is still ambiguous.

OH man I hate it when SciFi brings people back from the dead.

As soon as a character is bought back from being dead, it not only undermines their death, but also every other character's death. Regardless of the specifics of how.

If Grace comes back (to life), then can we really truly weep for Trudy, or relax at Quaritch's defeat?

Flashbacks is different, as would be some "voice of Eywa" type stuff in this case. But Back to life? Does nothing but spoil the power of her death.

I would say yes, if it's just Grace. Neither Trudy nor Quaritch connected to the network, so there are none of their memories there to be retained.

I hope Grace's avatar is well taken care of and she ends up back in it

I think appearing as an apparition would make the most sense.

Another possibility is Grace could manifest herself through Jake. Wouldn't wanna see it happen though

i really hope she returns in her Avatar, and like mentioned if she is part Eywa (making her like an Avatar for Eywa) that would be cool

Why would they even bother keeping her avatar around if she is "dead"?

Because plot? Anyway, we don't know what Eywa is capable of, so I basically have no clue.

Because her avatar isn't dead?
Depending on when, they might not have decided even what to do with it yet, although I guess it will likely be later rather than sooner.
