Tron: Legacy was snubbed beyond belief. They were nominated for one thing: sound editing. And lost. Still though, Inception as the visual effects choice was pretty fair, considering how the majority of the effects were physically created in reality, which is quite rare today in a world of CG tech.

Daft Punk not being nominated for "Best Score", I can understand. Hans Zimmer was the main consultant for the orchestral department (pleh), and Daft Punk in charge of the electronics. The two meshed together to create yet another blend of electronic madness that fits well into the film, but sounds like a rehash of all sci-fi 80s scores, updated with better sound, and stuffed with a horn or two with maybe a few synth strings on the side. But that's just my take; I don't know what the Academy was thinking...

And the Oscar goes to... "The Social Network"?! Really? You've got to be kidding. I would've had Tron win over "The Social Network" ANY DAY, as well as any of the other scores nominated. Inception's score was interesting while watching, but not original, very simplistic and sometimes outright annoying, and the main theme was an extremely slowed down version (albeit verbatim) of "Non, je ne regrette rien". Good God... The Oscars are frying my brain with many, many examples of "FAIL".
