The date was May 15'th 2010.
Creativity was flowing and PAD was strong. A time I wish I could go back to, but is currently just memory. Eywa was with me today. ![]() This is a place where magical things happen. Where the differences between Earth and Pandora are abolished. Where I go to every now and then to clear my head of this world and to be as close to Pandora as possible; this is my movie set, where I make all of my short films. ![]() I had set out to this place on a fine weekend afternoon to film something that I had been writing about for a while; a short film about finding Pandora. I love film-making, and I knew that making a film was the only way to purely express PAD and everything that came with Avatar. So I did. Encounter #1 ![]() Take a look at this picture from the film; when I go through the transformation and become a Na'vi. Looks good, doesn't it? Now what if I told you that this shot is completely un-edited. Would you be surprised? Well, there's a story behind this moment captured in this photo. The skies were cloudy seconds before this shot. Once I set up the camera and pushed record, the clouds parted and a perfect blast of sun beamed through the sky and decorated the forest clearing. Once the shot was over, the sun was gone and the sky clouded back up. Am I the only one who thinks that's incredibly coincidental; how the one shot that I needed for this movie to be perfect, was? There's more backstory to this. This land was owned by a neighbor who lived alone. He knew about all of the films I made in the woods behind his house. He died the day before I filmed this, and I found out the news later that day. That afternoon as I reviewed my footage, I wondered why the hell the sky was so perfect during that shot, and how the sheer beauty of nature seemed to be at it's peak throughout that entire day. I came to a conclusion. I related it to Avatar. "All energy is only borrowed, and one day you have to give it back." Right? With the death of the man who owned these woods, all of the energy that he had in his life was absorbed and put into the land he once owned. THAT was why the day was so perfect. It was the flow of energy that made the day so beautiful. Encounter #2 ![]() As I was running through a giant field during one scene of the film, I lost my glasses; and never found them again. I tried looking through the entire set afterwards and still could not find them. That signifies something; glasses don't just disappear randomly. Since everything happens for a reason, I believe that they became lost so I could look at this world differently; and SEE everything in a new light. This day was a turning point. From this point on, I would See. ![]() It was one of the most symbolic days of my life. It was so long ago, but it still sticks with me to this day. I had become as close to a Na'vi as possible. It was a great feeling. Eywa exists somehow, and someway. I know it. I could almost feel her comfortable presence that day, with all the wildlife surrounding the area, tall trees, and of course that amazing sun. Mother nature is truly the key to being as close to Pandora as possible. If you let her in, and truly become one with nature; you will See. You will become your own Na'vi; and it will be the most amazing thing that you can possibly imagine. May Eywa be with you all.

Beautiful pictures. Beautiful feelings.
I'm going to be frank though, all of this beauty belongs to Earth and Earth alone, and I think it should be left at that. I don't mean to say that thinking/wishing about Pandora and all that is bad (and this might be more of a general comment then one directed at Hunter of the Glade), but Eywa, the Na'vi, and Pandora are all the product of imagination; none of this is. I feel that if you see something amazing it shouldn't be viewed as bringing you closer to an imagined world but as something amazing in itself, something to be appreciated for being real, tangible, and right in front of all of us. As some of the Avatar makers said on Oscar night, the world we're on is as amazing as the one they created for us.

![]() Icu, that's your opinion and you are entitled to it, but some people find meaning in Avatar and you shouldn't be against that.

I want to say that we should appreciate Earth not only insomuch as it reminds us of Pandora, but because it itself is wonderful. JC had a quote like this... I can't find it though :/

They're both wonderful planets. Fair compromise?
Anyway, that's an awesome post, HoTG. I love threads like these. There really is...something out there in nature, you just need to open yourself to it.

@ Hunter : simply awesome. I love those pictures, they remind me of my country-side where I used to spend my childhood years ago, running through the forest by my own, it made me feel very connected to the nature. Now that AVATAR brought to me again the image of my childhoods made me ambitious to find nature and to find myself in nature. I think on Easter holidays I'm going there and I'm planning to spend more than 3 days all by myself. Sitting in this room, between 4 concrete walls and two windows made my sickness for this world more stronger and I hate that I can't be free, to be more free.
![]() I just don't know, but I'm not having any doubts that AVATAR is right. The energy you get in nature is a living energy, and when you're inside of it, you get more connected to it making you wish to stay forever. When you touch a tree or when you touch the ground, you feel a strong energy going through you. Nature is a living spirit and I feel that everytime I go to a forest. You don't get this feeling inside a building. Thank you for this post, it gives me goosebumps.

Great post Hunter of the Glade. It's true what you, and everybody else says - Eywa (or the Earth equivalent) is definitely here. When I go into the forests alone, I always feel a connection to the place around me and get this strange feeling that I am not alone. Whether or not our world is a living organism or simply has a spirit I don't know but when you get away from the noise of the towns and cities, when you shut out all the pressures of society, you can hear and feel something in these wild places. It's a truly incredible feeling.
