It can be pricey, but their selection does start at a lower price than the Space Needle. We would have to take a taxi there, but we could always check to see what the fare might cost before making any plans. I will call and check on whether or not they have any avaliability on June 4th.

What places would you guys like to go to for the clan meal?

Kaltxi,

I think I am leaning more towards FIYERWALL'S idea since I am traveling on a budget. The Space Needle just seems a little bit too much for me to spend on a dinner and also I think I really like the idea of a Na'vi type environment of the restaurant she mentioned. I think that would be perfect for all of us not to mention probably more room too. Just my input but I like the idea of the Palisade for all of us to have our clan dinner as I think it is right up our alley. Thanks for the great info and ideas everyone!! We have got quite the awesome clan here!

Well...as I understand it, here is what we know:
1. 9 people or more create a discount
2. Tickets won't sell out, it has never happened.
3. We can buy them online or when we arrive.
4. There Is a student discount.
5. There is a ticket included with the citypass.

So that being said we also need to consider that this is the reason for going to Seattle, and it would be bad if we didn't get in for a reason...

I think since there are now nine people for sure going, we should have 1 person order the tickets sometime in the next month, and hopefully we can pick them up and pay for them in Seattle. If not we could all pay the person that bought them, in Seattle or over paypal.

I say end of March, buy them. If others join us after that it won't be too hard to get a single ticket.
Alright, all sounds good to me.

And Irayo again to you, Aketuan, and to Alan, and to everyone else helping to plan our Seattle weekend clan meeting!

So far I think that there are only 3 of us from Typepad that are coming: Miss Tammie, Avatar Guy and myself. All of us are up on the chart, but we'll let you know if someone else decides to join.

Yeah, I think we can hit the Space needle on the head (would need a rather large hammer though HA!) as they haven't got back to me. It was worth investigating though as it would have been on the doorstep of where we are staying and quite novel. I must admit it did seem a bit of a tall order....sorry

But hey, I really don't mind where we go. Just having a great meal together is all that matters to me and it sounds like Fiyerwall has found a really cool place. Irayo Fiyerwall

As for getting in touch with the IMAX at the Pacific Science Museum to try and get Avatar shown, here the link below:

Well first off I looked into the restaurant that Fiyerwall found and it looks perfect. Since the needle didn't work out, I really think this is the best one presented so far...it seems that most of us are agreeable to this place and everyone should check out the info on the web. (their webpage doesn't have much in the way of pictures so you have to search around...)

Also the next newsletter will be out in the next couple of days!!
It will probably include info on
1. The Palisade Restaurant
2. Poll on group info
3. other stuff?

If everyone has taking a liking toward Palisade I will call them and set up a reservation for us for June 4th. The museum closes at 7pm on Saturday so is there a particular time that everyone would like to eat at? I was thinking sometime between 6 and 7; would that be too early for some since the museum would still be open?

I only saw 9 people on Aketuan's chart, but I'm wondering if I should make the reservation for more and if so how many more? If you guys know of anybody else that's going let me know so I can get the right number of people or as close to it as possible.

Irayo everyone!

I was wondering if it might be a bit soon to make a reservation? The thought that goes through my head is that there is still time for people to join us with the hotel reservation still available until 2nd May. I wouldn't want any friends we have to be excluded. Hope you don't think I'm pouring cold water on the suggestion, it really is not my intention.

Also with the possibility of Avatar SE being shown at the IMAX, we don't know if or when they will be showing it. I would hate to think we couldn't make it because we were still enjoying our meal togther.

Sooo...hows this for a plan? I will contact the IMAX again to find out what the situation is. I'll also let them know that it is looking like there will be at least 20 of us , possibly more comingto Seattle from far and wide. I try and find out if it is for one night only or whether they woould be looking to have a run of the film and when (what time) they would be looking to show it. Hopefully this would give us a better idea on planning our meal at the Palisade.

In parallel, would it be possible for you to find out from the Palisade if they have an opening for us on the 4th June (and possibly other days if not). Also could you possibly find out when they would need a reservation confirming by and what sort of cost it would be. Might be worth suggesting about 20 of us again...may be?

Even if we have to leave the Avatar exhibition early to fit a meal in and the IMAX (if they are showing Avatar) it shouldn't matter too much as we can return the following day with the citypasses if we get them.

Hows that for a cunning plan? Any thoughts? I'm open to suggestion..as long as it doesn't involve taking a long walk off a short cliff!

I'm just trying to keep our options open so we don't paint ourselves into a corner.

By the way I think you found an excellent place! I looks like they has some private rooms which have their own private outside decks. How cool is that! And it is open all day too!

Right must dash, got to try and fit some work in!

Kiyevame,

Alan

@ Alan and Fiyerwall:

Yeah, I would say to plan on the Palisade but wait a little while before making reservations, kinda like we are waiting to buy the tickets. I still really really hoping they play Avatar there, but we will wait and see. Good luck Alan.

YAYYY! The weekend has just arrived!

Anyway first thing I did, after filling the face, was drop a dit to the IMAX in Seattle to see if they are able to shed any more light on if/when they are going to be showing Avatar. I've copied my message below so people can see what I sent:

"Further to our previous correspondence on the 24th February I was wondering if you had any further information on the possibility of showing Avatar SE 3D at your IMAX theatre over the weekend of 4/5th June? My reason for asking is that there is a bit of a 'clan' gathering in Seattle over that weekend and we are in the process of organising our group activities. Consequently we were wondering if you were planning on showing Avatar on the evening of the 4th or 5th June?

The reason for asking is that we are looking to have a 'clan meal' one evening and we would hate to miss watching Avatar together. If you are currently unable to state if you will be showing the film, would you be able to provide us with an estimated date when you would you be able to confirm, so we can make our arrangements accordingly.

Once again many thanks for your time and assistance with this. It would be a dream come true for many of us to share the IMAX experience watching the film that brought us all together, from around the world, in the first place."

I purposely decided not to give an idea of how many of us there might be as I don't really know and it also it doesn't give them a reason to not bother if they knew, say, 20 of us were there.

As soon as I hear anything I will let you know and post the response here.

Irayo Tymian for the link. I did a search on the Science Fiction Museum website for Zoe Saldana, but no result came up. I'll keep my eye out though...

Great job on your message to the Seattle IMAX, Alan! Hopefully you'll get a response from them one way or the other.

Fiyerwall:
Yeah, I tend to agree with Alan that we should hold off a bit on making the reservation at the Palisade...but I do indeed think it would be a good place to have a clan meal, so good work on that!

Tymian:
Thanks for posting the Twitter message from Zoe. I'm looking forward to knowing more about her interview...and I hope more Avatar cast and crew are interviewed for the Seattle Avatar exhibit.

Raiden:
Glad to hear you'll be arriving in Seattle on June 2nd (like Alan and myself).
