Been a while since the last update, there have been quite alot of bad hairdays for Neytiri
I'm not completely done yet but its all working now. Now to add the beads and stuff in her hair and paint black hair on the top of her head so the blue skin isnt visible through the hair.
One hair isnt much work but where i thought i could get away with 50 braids or so, it turned out to be 300. So everything i did had to be x300
The way it looks now is a compromise really between what looks ok and what doesnt kill my pc (for example no shadows from the hair). When i'm really done ill see howmuch i can add, maybe shadows and stuff on the outer hairs.
It looks awesome in motion tho, it really moves like.. well hair
Ill add pictures of that later when the hair is really done.

Looks awesome! 300 is a pretty convincing number. Skin texture looks great from this angle too, BTW!

Wow that's brilliant work!! Well done! It must have been VERY time consuming to do 300 braids and do the textures and all that. Looking good though.
On a side note: I had no idea that Neytiri had around 300 braids.

Thx all, yeah it took quite some time sofar but about two-third of it is figuring things out and getting it to work.
And i also started this to learn and push my limits so i'm not complaining. Besides its fun
Yeah i guess the amount of braids is about right, for me that is, the real Neytiri probably has a million real hairs or something

Anyway did some more work on her hair and added the little beads.
Was time for some fun then and also to test if everything still works so made her do a quick 180 turn. Still have lots of tweaking todo but it looks ok already for a quick test.
As you might see there is some hair collision (getting through her skin) but not even that much. For a quick test im very happy with it.
Now to paint hair on her scalp and tweak things a little
Its way too bright in the render but its just to get an idea anyway..
Render speed is fast again so ill also try and get some shadow and stuff back in it.

Can't wait to see the reflection maps. To weild the power of creating something like this is something I've only dreamed about. I want to learn more about 3D art

Haha stop dreaming and give it a go Apollo
Its not as hard to learn, it just takes lots of time so you really do have to want it. Or stick with the 2D, your Neytiri picture looks very good!
An easy and drawing/sculpting kinda way of 3D is Zbrush, basics are easy as well. Good fun.

There's no reflection maps or anything in the renders yet, just dumped some lights in the scene and took the standard settings. Things can only get better on that part

Anyway, added hair on her scalp, it does the job but needs some tweaking still.
Also tried a way to make some feathers, ill be needing alot of those so im trying for a fast/nice way to make them

Great job!!
The colour of the feathers is a little off but nice work on the texture of the feathers and the hair/scalp looks pretty spot on!

Thx for the feedback!

Changed some settings on the eye shaders, its all rather subtle but i guess this is what u mean TM20?
The eyes seem to glow a little more mostly because the shininess and specularity are increased.
@ Pa'li i'll have a look at the feather color, thx. I work with 3 different screens and color is completely different on all three its terrible
