But imagine that you're seeing the movie for the first time - you now have a moment to wonder, what might happen next, before the big second act starts with the not-so-happy morning after, when RDA robodozers crush the Tree of Voices. From a POV of dramatic composition, that moment was perfect to put an intermission in. In theater plays, that is done as well - and if Avatar had been a stage play, the intermission between Act I and Act II would have been placed just there.

Act I, Act II is exactly the way I see it. I'm glad they cut it there if they had to cut it somewhere, despite the fact any interruption is somewhat irritating.
However, being positive about it... it does function as a really great drink/bathroom break. lol
