Arguing the existence of Jesus of Nazareth is moronic. He existed, fact. He was a philosopher, healer, and scholar. Atheists would contest that he is the son of God. Um *raises hand* There is also evidence that suggests that he was entirely mythological in origin, and sound theories as to why this might be the case. I'm not sure where I fall on the issue, but it's not exactly the case as you are presenting it.

He might not have gone by "Jesus" as it is in the bible. But there was a guy, who said "Hey, this is how it should be" (may or may not have claimed to be the son of god) A very smart guy I should say, who was crucified by the Roman Empire. And Christianity started rolling from there.
