Default The Cost of Bottled Water

This has always been one of my biggest peeves--bottled water. In my book, it would be a top contender for worst product that everyone buys. We literally spend billions of dollars to purchase something that comes from a tap (in many cases bottled water really IS tap water), we consume massive amounts of fuel just to ship the things all over the world, and majority of them simply end up in landfills (usually shipped again oversees).

But enough rant, enjoy:

Penn and Teller also addressed the issue, just that they went a bit further:

Bottled water is an almost unbelievable waste... Especially when most areas will have some relatively nearby source (usually the same country or at least an adjacent one), but they still import other brands of bottled water because they come from a different place...

Marketing(AKA pure deception) is part of the reason I had to quit my business major. It's all BS and I can't participate in that sort of thing. It's amazing how many lies we believe.

Let's not forget the huge amount of crude oil that goes into manufacturing all those plastic bottles.

Bottled water is a scam, plain and simple.

my friend is doing marketting at uni and he asked me to help him with a group activity, it was discussing brands of bottled water. in the group was him and a few other people and we began with "do you buy this brand of bottled water and if so why?" all the answers relating to "yes" were something along the lines of "well, i don't want to be caught by friends with this cheap stuff, it's embarrasing". siiiigh..... it's always about image -___- now that i think about it, my mum wasted alot of $ on all the bottles of water she would buy (daily) when she was working ._. *or maybe it wasn't daily, but still a waste of $ and resources

Bah why do people care so much about peer acceptance?
If you are your own person, there's no need to compromise on yourself for someone else. Respect is more than accepting someone's image.

Let me tell you, on a hot day miles from home, that stuff is a gift from the Omnissiah himself.

Which is exactly what a single reusable bottle filled from your faucet can be used for.

Exactly. Even buying a bottle of water from somewhere isn't bad (as long as you recycle the bottle) if the water comes from somewhere nearby, but when it's shipped halfway across the world for no reason it just becomes wasteful.

There's a town in NSW that has banned the sale of bottled water. Good idea, I say.
