Boromir: "...it's a gift!" Jack-Frodo: "You're damn right it is..." ![]() Nevertheless, I guess it was either here or on AF, where I speculated that as a little cameo in-joke about the former Cameron-Schwarzenegger cooperation, JC could have Arnold as the RDA's CEO to whom Parker Selfridge would have to answer after returning to Earth less than triumphantly, to put it mildly... with his proverbial tail tucked in and head very low would be closer to reality. I would chuckle at such a scene and like it. But that's just me and my sense of humor. Wiggling bare toes, ~*Txim Asawl*~

I knew Zoe Saldana long before Avatar. No one else did, though.
Sad.

![]() ![]() Avatar is an interesting opportunity for some A-list actors/actresses who might not otherwise be chosen for fear of being too well-known. Obviously they went to some effort to make Sigourney's avatar look like her, but in the case of Neytiri, I expect that few among even those familiar with Zoe would have guessed that she was behind Neytiri unless they already knew that she was somewhere in the movie. Even now, when I watch Avatar, I don't look at Neytiri and think of Zoe. And thank goodness, because that would just totally wreck everything. I bet they could have Clint Eastwood star as eyktan of some "plains clan" in Avatar 2 and nobody would ever know.

Pirates of the Caribbean and The Terminal, for two.
Nobody else may've noticed her in those two films, but I did. When I found out she was in Avatar I thought, " ... "

Well, I saw that Star Trek parody before I knew who Zoe was, ironically, I actually thought she was one of the few good things in it

She was in a Star Trek parody?

Depends on who you ask.
Me being not a real Star Trek fan, I don't remember one.

When I saw Zoe in "Pirates", I didn't have a clue who she was; but I remember thinking how she brought such fire and energy to that part. She is truly an epic actress ... wow!
I agree with HNM how using relative 'unknowns' in Avatar made it easier to immerse yourself in the film without being distracted. With the exceptions of Grace and Parker, of course. Especially Parker. I love the series Friends and it took me many IMAX viewings of Avatar before I could completely disassociate RDA Parker from Phoebe's totally goofy brother in Friends.

... don't forget: Weaver was in Galaxy Quest, also a Star Trek "parody" (in a more general sense of the word, though! )

Oh... you mean the one that's rated 8.1 on IMDb and 91% on RT?

God I hope he is not in the sequels, but who knows.
Perhaps there will be another Quaritch? You know the actual hardcore brother and not the softie that was in the first film. ![]() Hey it's a joke, sort of. |

Speaking of Zoe and Sigourney: don't forget their brief cooperation in Vantage Point, where Sigourney played Zoe's boss... a sad moment was seeing Zoe's character Angie Jones (a news reporter) die in a terrorist bombing...
Picture link of Zoe as Angie Jones: Photos from Vantage Point So, back on the original topic, if there were a poll to ask if people like it, the "no" bar would be rather long so far, I guess. Wiggling bare toes, ~*Txim Asawl*~

It's been a while since I've seen Galaxy Quest, but I know I definitely prefer its usage (or lack thereof) of lens flare.
