I think you're oversimplifying the whole issue with "loons on both sides" and progressives. The media (what a surprise) has pretty much sealed the arguments of "loon vs. loon" in what we "should" think of certain people (not to mention some of the people you just listed), that "this person's crazy" and "that person is nuts," when there's really much more to it than that, even with people like Bush, Obama, Palin, and Biden.

People read one or two articles from their own side and automatically assume that it must be the be-all, end-all, word and the way, but they don't ever consider to stop and think, "Wait, did I miss something? Is there something more than just a mainstream claim about this person?"

This is what happens so often among those who adhere to one view so much as to ignore any possible rebuttal against it, thereby defeating the purpose of scholarly judgment and discernment.

Loon in this context is someone who deviates away from what the majority of the people want. If you vote for this person you aren’t really sure what they’re going to do because they never give you a straight answer or they change their point of view to fit the situation. They’re also known for their extremism when dealing with things like the environment or abortion or anything else. (Today they’re all for abortion, but when they’re in office they vote against it). That could be a Democrat or Republican so it can go both ways.

Progressive in this context is similar to a loon, but they are more pressed to do whatever it takes to achieve their agenda and ultimate goal with tunnel vision blinders on. They move in one direction while making people on both sides believe they’re going to help them and do what’s right by them, but they keep moving towards their agenda even if it places the entire country at risk of collapse. Be it war or Wall St. bailouts.

If I was for Democrats or Republicans either way I would still need to understand what the person’s subtitle is to have a compete idea of what their agenda could be, which goes much deeper than a simple generalization. In fact that goes well beyond what the average voter takes into consideration when they vote. Most voters are looking at just the Democratic or Republican tickets and are generalizing their choice based on what they believe a Democrat is or what they believe a Republican is rather than listening to each person and what that person’s core values say about them. I only pointed out the recent players and their subtitles, which were earned based on how well they fit those categories in my personal opinion; to point to a pattern. That’s not to say things wouldn’t or couldn’t change. I’m not saying all the people on one side are “this” and all the others on that side are “that.” I said what we’ve had has been “this.” All I did was point that pattern out. I kept it simple using terms everyone has heard before so I’m not forced to write a ten page explanation of the meanings wile also throwing my view in there because I’m not trying to personally change anyone’s mind or actually partake in this debate.

My strategy is to get people to say; "Wait, did I miss something? Is there something more than just a mainstream claim about this person?" (Or group of people).

If you or anyone else is able see that I’ve found an interesting pattern if that person really cares about this country they would do the necessary research (not in just one place) and educate themselves and not just take my word for it.

By pointing to this pattern and how things have progressively become worse it is in my opinion that the United States would tumble down the hill crashing at the bottom if we continue with more of the same. (Voting people in based on their party alone). So the point of my first post was to highlight the fact that you can no longer generalize this as Democrats verses Republicans game because if you play it that way you’re playing a dangerous game.

Once America falls I do not believe it would ever fully recover if at all. As with anyone else I would like to prevent that, but to prevent something you must first find the problem. The problem is well beyond "It’s the Democrats fault!" or "It’s the Republicans fault!" You must look at who’s making this happen and why.

Alright, now I'm going to go to bed.
