Anybody ever felt a little bit how Jake Suly felt
A while ago, I made the track & field team. Since then, I had injured my shoulder. The doctor has been telling me what I can and can't do like crazy. I've got a track meet tomorrow where I will be doing the 2mile run, 1mile run, .5mile run, the hurdles, and pole vaulting. Don't get me wrong when I say this: I love running, but the one event I really want to do is pole vaulting. My dad did it before me and now I want to do it. But when I asked my doctor if it's alright that I do that, given that I can do like a hundred pushups and do pull-ups, bench press, shoulder press, and bench dips like a maniac, he laughs in my face and says "No way!" It's been 5 months since the injury and I'm sick of people telling me what I can't do. I know it isn't nearly as bad as Jake's case was, but it's basically the same thing. I know this sounds like I'm venting and I don't want it to be another vent thread, so I'll ask about you all. Has anyone ever had a situation with someone telling you what you can't do?
p.s. How many of you think I should do it?
