Not necessarily... Horner has been known for composing some of his scores before the movie was finished. He had the central themes and leitmotivs all done and only needed to do some fine-tuning to fit it to the movie scenes - and he still has lots of material from Avatar left, I'm sure.

I guess, that as soon as JC has some scenes written down, he'll also send them to JH to have him compose some music to it and then listens to it, making sure it fits the mood of his writing.

Whatever the process, I just hope that the two Jims stay together for both sequels, since Horner's music has become an Avatar/Pandora trademark.

Agreed, I think JH can start composing stuff today...maybe use the same themes but add some variations to it. I really hope JH is part of II and III.
