Washington, DC (and the east coast)

Hey all,

I'm currently residing in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, and I'll be here for the next few months. If there's any other ToS members nearby who would be interested in meeting up, let me know. It's also possible that I'll be making brief trips to Baltimore, Philadelphia, and/or New York while I'm experiencing the east coast, so if there's anyone in those locales who'd be down for meeting up that would be great too.

I should mention, however, that I'm already quite busy working at a nonprofit organization in Washington, so I don't have the greatest amount of spare time in the world. (Enjoying the work so far, though!) Even so, maybe I can work something out.

Hi EG ~ I, along with two con committee members from Avatar Wiki were in DC exactly a month ago on a fact-finding mission for a location for the First Avatar Convention and Expo (FACE). One of the members lives there and works for NASA. Wish I had known about you then, we would have captured you and dragged you along with us. We fell in love with the Baltimore Inner Harbor as the perfect convention site and will be promoting the entire DC/Baltimore area as a primo international destination to combine the con and a vacation.

Any chance you can make it to the Seattle Avatar meet up in June? Several of us will be brainstorming convention ideas and we would love to have you join us.

PSS ~ sometimes when you're a little down, all you need is something to look forward to ... like, for example, Seattle.

Ah, well I wouldn't have minded getting dragged along by two other Avatar fans, but a month ago I was on the west coast, where I typically call home. I have heard about the planned convention in DC/Baltimore a year from now and it would be a good excuse to come back to where I am right now.

I would gladly go up to Seattle to see the exhibit there and meet everyone else who's going...but sadly, I still have to be in DC that weekend. Actually, the end of that meetup weekend is roughly when I'll be finished working and become free to fly back home. Maybe some other time...

PS: Thanks for your compliment. Long before Avatar existed, "Love Reign O'er Me" and the album it comes from were a guiding light and an emotional anchor in an otherwise troubling time in my life. There's no doubt in my mind that I wouldn't be who or where I am today without them.

Well I'm in NJ, but am less than an hour away from both NYC and Philly, and I'm always looking for excuses to go there more often. Tis fun.

So I would theoretically be available Would have to work it out with school schedule and such, but I've never met anyone from ToS before yet.

Yeah, neither have I!

I'm almost certainly going to be in Philly on Saturday, April 16. At the moment I know I can go there just for Saturday, but I'll see if I can't extend my stay into Sunday. In my experience, one day is not enough to visit a city that's new to you.

Well, unless your excursion into Washington occurs in early June, I don't think there's a chance of us meeting up as I'll be gone before summer technically begins.

Kaltxi, CyanRachel! Thanks for letting me know. At the moment I have no set-in-stone weekend for visiting NYC but if I do I'll let you know. I should get it done, I've always wanted to visit that place.

So I'll be in Philly this weekend, though it looks like I have less free time than I hoped with regards to transportation schedules among other things. 2:00-4:45 pm. Any sort of meet-up would be relatively quick, though I'd still be okay with doing it if anyone else wants to too.

On another note I'm likely going to go to New York May 20-22. That should be exciting.
