I'm trying to convince my dad to get us a new tv so we can get a bluray. He's really into "current" stuff, so hopefully we will get one!

I think prizes will go down when 3D becomes a bit more common. It's still a long time before 3D version of Avatar will be available.

I think the price of 3D TV is actually quite low, given the newness of the technology. Many people here may be too young to remember some other prices for new technology. For instance, my first big screen television was a 50" projection TV with a bad picture, and that was over $3000. Prices for some of these new 3D TVs are right in line with what a good LCD/plasma can cost right now.

Yea every time I tell people around how much they cost and they look at me with surprise and say, "Wow, thats all?" its surprisingly low... obviously not low enough for me to buy but... you guys get the picture
