I absolutely love that song... I was never really interested in any of the Final Fantasy games with the sole exception of this one primarily because the story was so absolutely interesting and fully captivating.

these 2, they really stand out on the album for me. not happy or bright music at all but the emotion is there. even if i'm not sad, listening to this makes me feel kind of down
but i love thse 2 trackspiano and violins definitely help build the mood for this one

Imagine a young boy, maybe ten or eleven, walking home from school past a large stand of trees that mark the edge of a forest. He is crying. Today, some kids made fun of him for rescuing a snake that they found in the school field and were going to kill "for fun". One of them started pushing him around, and he had enough; they all went home with bruises and bloody noses. He got detention. He feels very alone; why didn't anyone else see what he could see? As he walks along the sidewalk, he notices a gap in the dense undergrowth; an old footpath. He decides to walk inside. Wandering down the path aimlessly, he finds an old log, and sits down, sniffling. Finally, he notices something. It is totally quiet, and yet, it seems like the trees, the shrubs, the birds - everything - is speaking to him. "What's wrong, child?" "Don't be sad. You did the right thing today." "Are you hungry? Here, have some salmonberries!" He notices a salamander marching past a stand of mushrooms; it seems to smile at him, as if to cheer him up. After a while, he feels better. As he leaves his hidden sanctuary, he turns towards it. "Thanks, forest." He comes back out from under the shrubs and saplings and heads home. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't often allow people - especially on the internet - to look this closely into who I am, but I make exceptions for you guys. This song, and this story, should illustrate it adequately. And the story is real, minus some minor dramatization, for effect. I often found myself wandering into the forest described here when I felt sad, and it could always count on it to cheer me up or give some insight into a problem I had.

Here is a few of my favorites:
1) possibly my all time fav, it is a song by Pete Casale. In this vid it is the background track for some dream inspired artwork. It is just hauntingly beautiful (especially the acoustic guitar). YouTube - Lucid Dreaming Art 2) This is to me one of the most sacred (yes I use the work sacred with music lol) songs ever. I love astronomy so I love the title as well! The majestic Andromeda Galaxy! - Andromeda by Daniel Seabra YouTube - Daniel Seabra - Andromeda (Sandeagle Remix) [Trance All-Stars Promo] 3) This last one is the most beautiful one, just close your eyes and fly through the clouds! -Dream of You by Schiller YouTube - Schiller - Dream Of You (Chillout Mix)

This and Chopin's Etude in E Major are the two most beautiful melodies I've heard.

This is a song from the first CD I ever listened to
Apparently, I used to request it as a baby and jump around the apartment (to the more high energy songs, I was usually half dead by the time this one rolled around). This song was at the end, so naturally, I think about the end of my happy child times in New York. |
