Well, the first part "a year later" is because it has just begun to soak into my consciousness (after I read some posts on the subject) that yes, it's been about a year, a bit more, since I saw Avatar for the first time... Already a year? Only a year? What a year!
I've just thought that I got obsessed with the idea of "Avatar Soundtrack" CD precisely in these dates... a year later... eh? The "Na'vi again!" part is a curious & even funny coincidence. But it happened not a year, but half a year ago - & half a year after Avatar. Hm... right in the middle! I signed up for AF in July, from the depths of PAD, and almost immediately got a job offer. Since I was not too active anyway, I thought of maybe unsubscribing, & maybe getting serious for a change, & maybe getting my head out of clouds & my feet on the ground, & maybe this, maybe that.... in short, why don't I become a perfectly "normal" piece of the machinery of the society. I started in September. The first day, I go to the office, meet the people, get shown my desk, the usual. Then a programmer girl comes to me and says: "Let me tell you something about the Navi". ... ... ... I stare. The look of me is best described with "You should see your face(s)!" I honestly just stare blankly with no thoughts but "WHAT!?" It turned out that NAVI - NAVISION - is the database & as a translator I am supposed to check it, edit it, revise it, & do whatever a good translator does. The girl explained lots, it seemed very complicated but I guess I wasn't really listening - I just couldn't. To let my mind go blank wasn't hard for me... ... .... ![]() Next step, she shows me the icon - a half Na'vi blue, half dark blue square, with "NAVI" in caps under it! I finally managed to think: "Hm... I think I'll stay in the forums for a while!" ![]() So it was more or less what Alan said once: "The most amazing revelations find us when we expect them the least ", or something like this, sorry I don't remember exactly. (only today I noticed that there are some tiny white dots on the icon, too! Goody! Sometimes I see this icon & think it's the link to ToS and then I click on it & see... well... something else... ![]() ). But it's like a reminder that sits on my screen & looks at me every day...So, yes. The NAVI (s) are here to stay! Last edited by apache_blanca; 02-05-2012 at 02:44 PM. |
