I'm not too surprised.

I've asked around, and there are a lot of people who really didn't like it who were a few generations older than me/us.

Seems that way. My family like it, but only ever in that way that they watch it then go and do something else

funny thing, my sister-in-law over 40 was surprised that I am hanging out on ToS with young people saying that she thought Avatar was "a philosophical movie more for 'our' generation"! Which makes me think "Avatar is for ALL generations, depending on what one Sees..."

All said, I am lucky to be surrounded by people who at least appreciate Avatar, altho they are not so "truly, madly, deeply" in love with it like myself. But it's ok. Tastes differ. I have you people & that's great
