Default One Year after Avatar

Greetings Tree of Souls

Today is a very happy day for me, exactly one year since I first saw Avatar. This time a year ago I was just a few hours from sitting down to my first viewing, how blissfully unaware I was of how it would change my character forever.

I just wanted to take a moment to give thanks, as this is something of a 'birthday' for me as Avatar allowed me to be born again - my body may be 18 years old, but my soul is only 1. It's been a truly splendid year, rediscovering my appreciation and respect for the natural world, changing in a way I never thought I would and meeting the nice folks at AF and on here who helped me through the Avatar blues and let me come out the other side. I have a new sense of inner peace, I know what I want out of life, finally. My health has drastically improved since last year, eating right and exercise is something I now actually enjoy. Eywa willing I'll still be as crazy about Avatar this time next year, even though that seems really far off right now. I now eagerly look for my soulmate, not just some meaningless fling, and lord knows I'll wait as long as it takes to find her. All is well, and it feels good Thanks for Avatar, the film that made me me, thanks to the community here because you've all been a large and very helpful part of the last year.

I spent this morning taking a long quiet walk through a nearby forest, I have also just come in from planting a very special 'One Year Anniversary Avatar' tree Whilst typing this I have the Avatar soundtrack on and am thinking about the spectacular last 12 months. Finally, tonight I'll be watching the standard DVD version of Avatar to truly mark the occasion.

So here's to ToS, Avatar and great times! I wish you all good health, love and happiness

The Silver Stag

Loved what you wrote as I couldn't have said it better myself. I never thought I would be one those types of people who becomes such a huge fan of something let alone a movie! Avatar really took me by surprise and I will never forget the moment when I was hooked and how it changed me and my prospective on all things in and around my life.

One of the things I am most thankful for and feel truly blessed about is the most wonderful, caring, and true blue friends I have made in the last year due in part to Avatar. I mean, I have friends from all walks of life all over our beautiful world that I thought I would never have and its all due in part to TOS, AF, TYPEPAD, LEARN NAVI, DEVIANTART and FACEBOOK as that is where our AVATAR friendships started. One beautiful bond we all shared together. WOW...such awesome friends you are and love to you all!

CONGRATS to your ONE YEAR Silver Stag and here's to many, many more my friend!

Hehe, I feel the same way

My Avatar-fascination did not come inside one day. It developed from animosity, to interest and curiosity and finally to a very big fascination and an attitude towards life, completely.

When I saw its trailer for the first time, I narrated stuff like "Never want to see such a science fiction bull****" and so on. If someone would tell me at this time that this movie would become such a great influence to me and my life, I would not believe him.

Anyway, there was a difference to other movies I don't like:
Despite the animosity, I was kind of fascinated of these blue creations, of this world. And of the music.
This was the reason, why I changed my mind, yet: "I want to see it. But only on DVD, 'cause I don't want to pay money for such a film in cinema. At least. This change of mind was a little advance.
Days elapsed and sometime I (FINALLY) had the need to see the movie on the big screen, yet. (Best decision ever)

I saw it on january, the 4th of 2010. After the view, I liked Avatar. Not more. "It's a good movie, but I have not to see it in cinema again"
I didn't know it by this time, but this was the beginning.
All in all, I watched Avatar 16 times in cinema.

But it is more
Since Avatar, my hobbies changed. I modified my attitude towards life and towards the nature. I'm known in cinema xD and in the multimedia-battalion of our big store
Avatar is responsible of my career aspiration and because of this movie, I found new friends, alternatively a very good mate

Avatar is more than a movie. It's part of my life
And it is nice to meet people, who feel the same way

I wonder just HOW MANY people feel this way about Avatar? Those on the Avatar forums, & those who don't know about the forums' existance? Avatar is SO much more than a movie, how many people are saying it changed their life, "opened their eyes", made them "recognize who they are"?

I do understand when people say "Avatar is a part of my life", or "a part of me" - but I daresay, the way I feel, it's not a "part" that can be separated. More like a fusion, a merging, some sort of chemical (?) reaction that got not only under my skin but into my cells and on some subatomic level even! It's just... right. "Avatar reaction" happened, & there's no reverse reaction... and I am bleeping well happy about it!

I am repeating myself over threads, but I am really happy that the forums exist. Truly.

That's a great way to put it
Avatar gave me something to want in my life, which I did not have before.
I don wonder though, with the number of people that really care, the number of people who are places like here, and how many others there are who are not, but who could have been as strongly affected...
