Mars Attacks reminded me of Avatar.
The Martians are like the RDA. Also the martians are much smaller than the humans, in the same way humans are smaller than the Na'vi. Last edited by neytirifanboy; 05-22-2010 at 07:40 PM. |

The Mission, it's the Avatar of the 80's, set up on the 18th century.
And with a sad end. But heck, it's still a great movie.

Avatar made me think FernGully (that's how I first described Avatar to some friends). The two movies have similar plotlines, though obviously Avatar has a much different impact.

Another movie that reminded me of Avatar is King Arthur. The blue painted woad warriors reminded me of the Na'vi. |

I've never seen this film but I happened to stumble upon mention of it:
Battle for Terra was an obscure independent movie released about three or four years ago. Its content seems to be EXACTLY like Avatar's in terms of basic plot, characters, and ethical dilemmas (not to mention that it was released in 3-D in the small handful of movie theaters it played in). Its like a children's animated version of Avatar. See the similarities? Last edited by Banefull; 05-25-2011 at 05:56 AM. |

None, Avatar is one of a kind.
But when I first seen Avatar it kinda reminded me of Dances With Wolves, which is also a great movie.

Not many movies remind me of Avatar, but there are a couple that bring out similar feelings as Avatar.
They are; Last of the Mohicans, and Dances With Wolves.

Oddly enough, Blade Runner does for some bizarre reason. I gues it's kinda like the anti-Avatar in many ways, but it also shares a few attributes, too.

Not so odd, really. Honestly, I saw a lot of Blade Runner's Earth in the extended opening sequence of Avatar.

And then there is ofcourse John Boormans Emerald Forest which I wrote about in this thread:
http://www.tree-of-souls.com/tv_and_...ld_forest.html It has many resemblances with Avatar and it evokes similar feelings. |

The original TRON.
Kevin Flynn works for Encom (compare to RDA in Avatar) and gets sucked into the computer and ends up in a different world (Na'Vi world) and ends up liking it, wanting to expand and ends up getting stuck there again and has the chance to go back but doesn't because he liked it too much. (TRON: Legacy)
