We are checking with people to make sure they are cool with us publishing their names before we do so. So I'll be adding names to many of the photos in the near future; unless those in them chose to identify themselves in the Photo's comments themselves first.

That is Sarah Noël, of LearnNavi.org though she expressed that she plans to join ToS soon also. I'll let her speak to the details of her costume when she joins. She did wear sandals with the costume.

And what a costume it is!
I love this photo:

Just by chance; I snapped this pic of her the next day from a similar angle:

Here's another comparison of the transformation:

I'm completely blown away by the whole weekend. I look back at the photos (Over 400!!) and find it hard to believe that it's only been 4 days.

good idea, I (& many others) of course would like to know who is who but respect to people's privacy, if they wish it in this sense, is important.

Good! Sarah has a very sweet & even serence smile in a human body. The Na'vi smile is happy & adrenaline but imho it's just incredible - how one looks /& feels I believe/ so different when changing a body!

I would be surprised if you didnt! I was blown away by just looking at them, what about you people who actually lived it all - in RL! it's all right, "land", take your time - & then we want more stories!

Oh well~

Bottom (left --> right): Momsballavatar, James of Terra, Cyanrachel

It wasn't all of us; a few more arrived a few days later. We were going to take a big group picture of all of us, but there was almost always one person who wasn't present.

Good photos indeed. It did seem like one person was missing from every group shot, but with people arriving different days and staying for limited amounts of time, it was pretty good. Some of those photos are classics, and I seem to be constantly looking at the shots. I'll be adding about 10 pics I took here soon.

New thread for discussion on the meetup: http://www.tree-of-souls.com/meetups...th_meetup.html

EDIT: the wedding pic is up! here

Alright, a few more *almost live* photos.

Despite the threat of rain, Aketuan and I made a made the 4000-foot scramble up Mt. Si (30 miles east of Seattle) this morning before his flight. Actually, he's still waiting for his flight. On the way back down, I was forced to hobble like an old fogey thanks to my left knee going lame, but Aketuan was very patient.

Here are a couple of shots from the top...

(Me)

(Aketuan)

While on top, we fed bits of granola bars to a chipmunk who was clearly quite accustomed to begging for tidbits from hikers. Pity that he wouldn't stand still for a photo!

Again, so great to see so many Avatarians this weekend. Already looking forward to next time.

:/

I wish I could've gone with you guys.

I love hiking, but school had other plans for my time...

EDIT

Whoaho! Nice find!!

This is the yellow-spot millipede.

Harpaphe Haydeniana

We actually have quite a few native millipedes in the Pacific Northwest, but many of them spend nearly all of their time hiding.

This one does not.

You see, most millipedes can secrete formic acid (a weak organic acid, about as acidic as Orange juice), but this little fella has developed a better plan.

They synthezise Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN) in sacs along the inside of each body segment, and when something disturbs them, they squirt it out.

Hydrogen Cyanide is extremely toxic to many animals, and the yellow spots serve as aposematic (warning) coloration to predators who would wish to dine on one. If you pick one up, it might squirt you with it, but as long as it doesn't get into cuts or into your eyes, you'll be fine.

Another interesting note is that there is one species of beetle in the family Carabidae that can eat these; it has developed an unusual resistance to the cyanide.

Great pics, Aaron! Glad to see/hear you and Aketuan had a good hike.

It was awesome to meet you both in Seattle...I think we all had a great time there! I'm back at work right now, but taking a moment to check back into the ToS forum to read some of the weekend posts and view some of the photos from the meet-up.
Too all those who couldn't make to Seattle, wish you had been there -- the Avatar exhibit was *awesome*, and we all enjoyed getting to hang out together! Until next time, clanmates!

I'm not sure which tattoo you're talking about, but if it's the one of the Pandorian landscape then that would be me. It still needs about 10 more hours to complete and what you already see took over 30 hours to do. What really made my day was when the tech guys, who helped create this world, loved my tattoo! How great of a compliment is that?!

I'm trying to post some pics of my arm in my album but I'm having trouble so it might take me a while.
