So, less than half the cost of making Avatar, from his own pocket, and to make a film that addresses an important issue to humanity. I don't see the problem.

In a world that operates, by limitations, haves and have nots, its quickly and obviously easy to pass morality and judgements and slipping into an ethical debate on such a topic. Personally i look forward to a world, that learns to live outside that cardboard box, and open their eyes to quit thinking like jarheads.

When it comes to solving world issues, the complexity is not something that can be solved by monatary means. These issues are fundamentally rooted in a lack of spirituality, in a world gone MAD with consumption and materialism, and has forgotten the basic needs of empathy and compassion, neither of which are limited by a price tag.
Generosity, does not require, nor will it ever, a 'financial' handout. It is something that comes solely from the human heart, not the pocketbook. The changes that we want to see made in the world, begin within each of ourselves. Be the change you want to see!

In the shadow of morality judgements, we tend to cast everything, that seems aborbantly expensive too easily as 'frivoulous' expenditures, and want to raise outcrys of protest and injustice. We need to have a more discerning eye to cast some light on the subject.

The question for me, in any of these types of news items, is how or does this promote the evolution and progression of 'us' the whole of humankind? In that context than i need to sift through past my small ego self values and frame of reference and put the 'bigger' picture in context.

Given the numerous possiblities of 'whom' or 'who' will purchase such tickets, and make that flight, and given James Cameron's vision and visionary capacities and extraordinary ability to translate that all down to mass messaging that carries profound meaning and an expoential impact, beyond the scope of a 'movie', as we are all living proof of, and continue to create 'awakening' in the hearts and minds of so many.

I for one believe that this expenditure, is well worth the cost!

What this world really needs is more artists and environmentalists!

"Its only 'here' that we lose perspective, out at the Cosmic Consciousness Level things get a lot clearer. For example, there is an actual star pattern that is traced in the shape of a Willow Tree, across the breadth of the Milky Way! And no wonder Indigenous peoples refer to the 'here after' as the Happy Hunting Grounds! Has it ever occured to anyone why the bioluminescence dots, on the Na'vi!"

They've sold 1 of 2 seats?

So that means...

For $150mil, you can get a ticket to travel to the moon ... with James Cameron.

Sign me up.

- Mikko ... can't even begin to imagine that sort of amount of awesomeness.

If you would allow me to quote an earlier post.

That's exactly the kind of thinking that got Humanity into this mess. "Oh, it's just a little more money. It's nothing compared to this, or that." In a perfect world, sure. But here, as you already stated, things add up. And Cameron may very well be setting an example for others.

I don't have a problem with Cameron buying the ticket cuz he usually ends up sharing his experiences via 3D on the big screen so I have high expectations for that. He's well deserving of the trip considering what he has done to help others and his accomplishments in life. It would be fitting for him to go to his grave, or "giving his energy back to eywa", with this kind of memory.

You're missing my point. Why does the significance of cumulative expenditure not apply to you? Why can't I berate you for every blu ray/soft drink/mp3/whatever you buy? After all, things add up, and the cumulative spending power of people like you & I is utterly immense. You have only to look at the amount people in any major 1st world country spend on non-essential items to realize this.

Remember that you are on a fan-site for a film that was one of the most expensive ever made. By our presence here you and I are already giving tacit approval to entertainment enterprises of this magnitude.
