While my love for Avatar and the experience I get from watching it is as true as it was from my first viewing, my urge to see it in theater after already seeing it 16 times isn't as great as it used to be. This can be caused by several things, but I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I'm more interested in other things. For example, right now, I am in the process of moving to a different house and there are a lot of things going on in my life, so my time isn't being spent around Avatar as much as it used to be.

If you're having difficulty enjoying Avatar like you used to, then I suggest trying to find ways which would make you enjoy it. For me, watching Avatar and letting my mind go free works well. I try not to concentrate on anything for long periods of time.

Whether Avatar effects you while you watch it on a tiny or big screen doesn't matter. If Avatar still effects you in one way or another, that's all that matters. I suggest watching it in theaters, not on some tiny monitor screen - I'm sure James Cameron would suggest the same thing.

James Cameron suggested that you should sit as close as you can to your HDTV in an interview.

But, he did say that if you can, sit about 4 feet away.

Everyone else in my house doesn't like Avatar, that nagging feeling is definitely there.

Well, I'm going to take the suggestion, and wait till Avatar comes out on DVD, I'm going to find a big TV, and watch it when my parents aren't home so I can have the sound at proper volume , and to somewhat mitigate that nagging feeling.

Same story in my house. I believe I'll be doing the same thing. It would be awesome if we happened to live near each other -- we could get together and watch the movie among friends for a change.

I've never had Avatar affect me as much as the first time, but sadly, then I was trying not to give in to this movie, I was trying to hang on to the society-taught sense of "corniness", I felt horrible, like I had vertigo, but briefly, I felt right as rain as I brought myself to cut loose and let myself drift in the experience. Avatar affected me deeply in the end, but I was not in the right mindset to fully appreciate this. The rest of the times I went to see Avatar at least affected me, but I wanted to truly see, voluntarily. It's been just outside my grasp. I've suffered from something best described as screen-separation. I sadly can't fully immerse myself in the experience anymore, my mind just doesn't want to let go of this false reality that we call society, I keep involuntarily remembering that Avatar, Pandora, Neytiri, the Na'vi, it's all not real, that I'm in a theater. It's like skipping a stone across a deep lake. I can feel the depth, the meaning of Avatar tugging at me, but I just can't, no matter how hard I try, bring myself to see like the first time I went to watch Avatar, to dive into the lake that is Sight. To be immersed in the meaning and understanding that I had an involuntary glimpse of. I've been chasing it ever since then.
Consider this: You are living a dream right now. Nothing you see around you is real. Only your experience of it is real. If you want to feel a separation because that makes you feel safer, that is your choice. But we are here to experience this unreal "reality", in order to have enjoyment, ultimately. The joy of discovering your true nature is what is in store for you. Do not be afraid, but open yourself to it.

Some call me mad, but instead, I am happy

That'd be awesome. I'll bring the popcorn, if you happen to live near Houston..

Alas, I live in California...

(My parents are already suspicious, but throw in "can I fly to Houston" and they'll get *very* suspicious. We'll have to come up with something else... :\)

TBW: "Can I go to Houston. PLEEEEEZ!"
PARENTS: "Why?"
TBW: "Ummmm... They have some pretty cool....erm"
Parents: "That's what we thought. What's the REAL reason. *suspicious eyebrow*"

I'm thinking what the reaction would be if you told them you wanted to fly 600 miles to see another crazed movie fan.

What we all need is a good central location & a very good cover story........Hey--Star Trek & Star Wars both have conventions......Me thinks that Avatar should have conventions also..........That sounds like the beginnings of a very good plan....Ideas anyone?

And that's what is so great about being 40. You can basically tell everyone to feck off if they don't like what you're doing. HAHAHHAHAHAAAA!

Heh. I don't foresee that going over too well...

We'll all just have to coordinate our summer vacations!

Hmm. Now there's an idea! We'll have to come up with some way of advertising an Avatar convention specifically for ToS types that won't look suspicious (normal conventions won't cut it -- is there anyone out there with post-Star Wars depression? ).

i managed not to do any homework all through high school, and graduated with a C average, which, coupled with my very high SAT test scores, got me into community college, which was a breeze, got my prerequisites out of the way and then went to university with a B+ college average. AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

Now, i work when i want to...but really should work more..

fixed my riding mower and mowed about half an acre of grass today
