Default Hands across the Sand

Good day everyone, after months of lurking I have finally decided to join this community and the community over a Learn Na'Vi.
I will probably be posting often in this section of the forums. I work for the Sierra club and as such see this site as a great opportunity to spread the word about various environmental events that we need public support on.

Saturday June 25th is the Hands Across the Sand event. This is an event that shows our conviction and opposition to off shore oil drilling. It started last year after the horrific events of the Deep Water Horizon incident. Turn out last year was fantastic, and we hope to repeat the success this year. I am Floridian so this event is very close to my heart.

Here is a link to the Hands website

Hands Across the Sand | A worldwide gathering of people dedicated to a clean energy future and ending our dependence on filthy fuels

You can search by state or country to find events local to you, or you can create an event. Encourage friends and family to attend, and support we can gather is fantastic.

Sounds great!

I'm a wildlife biology major, and love the outdoors.

I'll see if there's some way I can participate.

That explains so much. As I said I am an environmental policy major, but I started as a geology/paleontology major.

Anyway it seems I hooked my local news crew to come cover the event. Depending on how it all goes down I'll link the footage when it goes up.

Nice action! I am living far from the coast - at least a 10 hour drive by train or car - but it is really a great idea and I wish it a lot of success!
Hey, I also studied geology and palaeontology and then became a ecosystem scientist

Well I have one photo from the event

Our event went extremely well, we had 200+ people show up and more pulled from off the beach. Our chain of hands was almost a quarter mile long in the end.
