I love the techno/trance/rave/electronic scene, and I love to DJ for that genre, and recently I've been thinking about getting back into making music. I have made music before a long time ago, maybe 3-4 years, techno music, and I was known as Prototype Project, and made a couple tracks, using Magix Music Maker, but after a while I stopped because of the lack of time that I had. Then one of my best friends and I a year back were hanging out and I grabbed a SoBe and on the cap it said Scorch Muffins and I looked at my friend and said, "wouldn't it be hilarious if there was a band called Scorched Muffins?" and he looked at me and said, "Let's be a comedy techno group and call ourselves Schorched Muffins!" So we did, it was me and my friend Greg who I was hanging out with that day and two other friends, and we made a couple songs with Magix Music Maker, but once again because of time and getting everybody together was tricky. At some point a little before Scorched Muffins I found a (legally) free download of a music maker program called Mad Tracker. It was an amazing free program, and I started to make a few songs, but never finished them. So about a few weeks ago I was looking through my computer and found the Mad Tracker program, opened it up, and started listening to my unfinished songs. I felt loads of inspiration and thought, "I've got to get back into this... big time." So the next day which was thankfully Friday I drove to Sam Ash, a music store at the mall, and normally I would go to the DJ section, but that night I went to the recording section. I talked to the guy working there for about a half hour, asking lots of questions, his recommendations, what I'll need, ect. He was extremely helpful, and even gave me his cell in case I needed any more help with anything. So I have my goals set, just need money for a lot of the equpiment and software. And the next weekend if I recall correctly I was looking in the poetry section of the Tree of Souls forums, and saw a lot of amazing work and I thought to myself, "Hey, why don't I make an album dedicated to Avatar!?" I would use the techno and trance genre to try and express the feelings and emotions that the movie gave me and the movie tried to express, like James Horner did with the score, except through the form of Trance and possibly techno. I would like it to be instrumental, and some including lyrics (if anyone would like, I would love to use a couple of your songs and/or poems that you guys and girls wrote) plus my stuff (I've wrote a few poems and lots of diary entries) and if I could, release them onto CDs, and if I could maybe I could make it a 2-Disk release. I was also thinking about copywrite with Avatar, and if I would need to work out legal agreements and such. It obviously won't be for a little while, because the job I'm at right now is hardly getting me any income, so once I graduate college in August and get a job hopefully at a dealership. I know for a fact I'll get started before the year is up, and most likely have a couple songs done by then. Like I said, I have my eyes set on the equipment I need such as studio monitors, a MIDI controller, new set of turntables, ect. and am still looking around at software, like Ableton Live and such. And also what I'd really love to do is a remix of I See You, like what Cosmic Gate did (I loved that remix version, Cosmic Gate is great).
So what do you guys think? Is it a good idea? Do you think I could do it? Edit: I would dedicate the album to James Cameron, Jon Landau, Zoe Salanda, Sam Worthington, James Horner, all the cast and crew that helped make Avatar, and of course all of you Edit Edit: I'm still looking for a new DJ name, I was thinking something like DJ Bioluminescence, or Liquid Sky... still deciding Last edited by Stanley_9875; 04-06-2010 at 06:27 PM. |
