That's your choice, although personally, I think many of the people who aren't interested don't understand the idea fully, and/or will change their mind when they realise what they are missing compared to others. Of course, the point is that the rights of people who do so are to be protected, although clearly then some capabilities will be missing and completely impossible, which is simply the price of that choice. Attempting to suppress progress makes it more desirable, better understood, and faster to develop.
