I was listening to some Sabaton a few weeks ago and these words just started coming to me out of thin air. A line here, a few words there. I filled in the blanks and put it together. Some of it may be a little repetative but I think it works.
In the morning I wake to find my life in vain I fight off the pain off losing everything I make I go to my master to pay my due I offer my gold, he takes it all I walk away he pours it down a hole while he fades he says give me more I raise my family in this land I teach them right I teach them wrong The world is harsh and they grow strong They leave to fight, with the shake of a hand I go to my master to pay my due My boys go willingly to serve He takes them and throws them down a hole As I'm on my knee's he says give me more This house I built of wood My life I spent here I cower in the fear of loosing it all for good I go to my master to pay my due I give all I have left He takes it and throws it down a hole As I crawl away he says give me more As I lie under the naked sun I count all I have been given Little betwen the dead and the living But living and dying under loaded gun I go to my master to pay my due I go to give him what he wants As I pull the hammer he taunts Sorry no return for you In the morning I wake to find things not as they were before I see my boys, my home back and more I was shown everything he couldn't take It's a little rough and the ending abrubt but I like to think of it a question, what can't be taken away from us? What does life give us that can't be stolen, lost, or forgotten. Something to think about I guess. Anyway, lemme know what you think.

Fantastic poetry... Amazing that this is freestyle, too. Just incredible. I really mean that.
![]() It's definitely an interesting question indeed... quite a difficult one, quite a disturbing one to a degree, but definitely thought-provoking.

Very relevant to modern society, I'll tell you that.

Perhaps the question is not of what they can take away from you, but rather... What they gave to you, that you don't need.

I very much like this.
Quote:
The student asks him, "What did you do, O Master, before you became enlightened?" So the enlightened one replies, "I chopped wood and carried water." And the student asks, "What do you do now, O Master, since you have become enlightened?" Smiling, the enlightened man answers, "I chop wood and carry water."
