I agree, it sounds more like you take a neutral stand, rather than an apathetic one.
![]() Semantics aside though, this is a really good question. I liked Rapunzel's analogy of a fly in amber...dwelling on the past too much only leads to fighting, it seems. We've seen that time and time again, especially in religion. I'm of the mind that while we can theorize and debate over the past, there comes a point where we just have to concede that it comes down to personal opinions, personal interpretations. I feel very much the same as you, Fkeu'itan, that people should generally be kind and decent, and I very much respect others' beliefs. It seems reasonable that people should respect mine, too. I *am* religious, but that doesn't mean I will push my beliefs on anyone, either. There are parts of my beliefs that hinge on events long gone and in all honesty, I know that my beliefs are based on my opinion of those events. I'm okay with that. Some people disagree with me, and that's fine too...I cannot honestly say that I *know* I'm right, so I stick with what I believe and will respect others' differing opinions. It isn't worth burying myself in the past over. Like you said, the present and future are just as important (and yes, I do believe they are). I guess what it boils down to for me is that the past is certainly fascinating and we can learn a lot from it, but if it gets to the point of creating fighting, it's time to move on. There is a time and a place to let the argument die. Look to the now and the future. ![]() Just my opinions, of course. We should never need to be afraid to speak our minds.
