Still thinking about which choice to vote for...

...but right now, all I want is for everyone on this forum to still be here once this event has passed.

Just remember that this is not a decisive poll. It's just to approximate where the usarbase stands in this question.

Why do we need to refer to subforums as "scientific"? That's not a label, science just is, logic just is. Every forum is a scientific forum, whether its occupants want that or not.

I think the issue with this poll is one of relevance. If it 'is not a decisive poll' then it should not include ANY alternatives as options, if it truly is simply to see where people stand.

Isard: Just for convenience - but I can gladly rename them if you have a suggestion.

Its not about the name, its about the idea that we can dismiss science just because some people "don't like it". If you don't like it, go disprove it.

Not the point of this poll.

The establishment of a magical land where using science will get you banned?

I think it is.

Um... what? Who's getting banned? Stop overdoing things.

It'll get you banned in the same way talking about music in the environmental forum will. That is... it won't, but it will probably get moved/removed due to lack or relevance.

When you disallow something on a forum, the punishment hanging over everyone's heads for disobeying is banning. If this subforum goes into effect, we either stay out, or we get banned for repeatedly bringing reality into their fantasy.

What about if the music forum only dealt with one genre of music, and people wanted to talk about others?

My problem with this poll is that 'do not implement any' and 'implement both it and an alternative to keep things balanced' take votes away from each other (at the time of posting this message, they have a total of 7 between them, against 7 wanting special privilege to only one subforum and not the other) - for example, I would say that IDEALLY there would be neither, but if this is added, we need to balance it.

And ridiculously insensitive statements like that are the ENTIRE reason this subforum is even being asked for. There is no reason, ever, to criticize someone's personal beliefs like that. If you don't agree with them, fine. I certainly don't agree with a whole lot of them. You know what I do when I don't agree? I don't say anything. They have every right to have their beliefs, without them being called fantasy.

The number of times people have been banned from this forum is in the single digits. It virtually never happens, and it won't happen now, unless people insist on continuing to be abusive toward the beliefs of others.

Regarding the music analogy, that's been discussed a few times before. And since it's still not gotten anywhere I doubt it's ever going to.
