I still need to see the original with Arnold, but I've heard good things so I might watch both back to back. Anyway here's the link.

The original is a decent film, as Conan the Destroyer. Arnold was still pretty young and it was just after his body building run so he's pretty buff in it. Has a very good story but the acting could have been a little better and some parts could have been changed to make the movie more comfortable to watch but it's still worth a watch anyway.

At least with Jason Momoa as Conan, they have found a guy having as many different facial expressions as Arnold back when he did the part.
![]() The original movie had one clear advantage over any sequel or remake: Valeria (Sandahl Bergman) - a tragic heroine, to be sure: "All my life I've been alone. Many times I've faced death with no one to know. I would look into the huts and the tents of others in the coldest dark and I would see figures holding each other in the night. But I always passed by." Those lines of her are much stronger than her trademark "Do you want to live forever?" It was sad to see her die, really. Wiggling bare toes, ~*Txim Asawl*~

When Steven Lang was interviewed for starring in a new TV show called Terra Nova, he also talked a bit about Conan:
LANG: In Conan, I’m playing an evil, evil, evil warlord. He’s wonderful. I am Khalar Zym. I am Death. What was the experience of making that film like, and how is this incarnation different from other versions of the characters? LANG: We shot Conan in Bulgaria, which was the perfect place to shoot it. It’s real rugged and very colorful and very low-tech. Every department head was just top notch. I was very proud of the make-up and wardrobe and the look of the character, which to me is very important. And, there was the work with the weapons and the horses. We had the 300 fight team there. Of course, we had a very good, imaginative director with Marcus Nispel. And, I’ve got to say that Jason Momoa, who plays Conan, was just spectacularly good. He was terrific. He did a great job and was a real stud, and I enjoying beating the hell out of him. That was fun. You better have fun when you’re in Bulgaria, or you’re not going to have any fun at all. (Full interview: Stephen Lang Interview TERRA NOVA) And in that Terra Nova show, he looks like a happier Quaritch: ![]() ![]() Wiggling bare toes, ~*Txim Asawl*~

Indeed - especially since we have seen Jason Momoa beating other people up so expertly in Stargate Atlantis. Of course, it was real fun seeing him and Rachel Luttrell beat each other up - for training purposes only, of course.
On a side note: Rachel Luttrell would have made one nice Na'vi, too... ![]() And here's what Stephen Lang expects the villain's part to be: Stephen Lang Goes Evil For 'Conan' | Video | MTV "I'm gonna get on a Mongolian pony and ride like the wind, I'm gonna flash my scimitar and I'm gonna cut the nuts off Conan and his father..." ![]() Sounds epic, really. I know, this looks like reviving a thread zombie, but I have a good reason to do so:
![]() ![]() How about these nice pictures of Conan's antagonist Khalar Zym, played by Stephen Lang? Makes Quaritch look like a schoolboy in comparison, doesn't it? Wiggling bare toes, ~*Txim Asawl*~
