Default Rumor: 'Avatar 3' Begins Shooting In November?

Quote:
I know this may seem a bit far-fetched and it could very well be but YouTube partner and host of the weekly YouTube show, "Movie Buzz" Peter Rallis has come out and stated that Avatar 3 is set to begin filming this November. Apparently, Avatar 2 has wrapped production earlier this year.

I don't know how true this rumor is but for now I'm leaning toward true. If Jim Cameron wants to release these films Christmas of 2014 and 2015, post-production would need to begin about now. After all, Avatar was in production since March 2008, well over a year before its release in December 2009.

Still two more years till A2

I hope this is true. For sure, it would make much more sense given the timeline.

Yeah calling BS here. Avatar only took so long to produce because they were still working on the tech while they made it. With how the digital camera etc works I bet they could easily conform to the regular 8-10 month schedule that most films run on. Look at Avengers/Dark Knight Rises. They are both going to be released Summer 2012 and neither has wrapped production yet. Most movies are usually still doing post production up till about a month before release.

Yeah I agree, this sounds like nonsense. Didn't Zoe say they hadn't even started filming Avatar 2 in the recent interview when Colombiana came out? (i.e. a few weeks ago)

I was watching the video.... "this is so exclusive, you won't find it anywhere else blah blah blah" and thinking "that's because it's not true, dummy"

From the amount of information that wasn't all that long ago about creating the studio for it, I'd be very surprised if it was already finished filming for A2.

As it is, by having both films on the go, they can move from shooting 2 to 3 without any real need to stop for any reason past it just being a long time to continually work.

I would genuinely not be surprised if it were true. They could have done the filming for Avatar 2 and then gone into Avatar 3 like HNM said, without stopping. After they shoot both, they could do the Weta graphics stuff. I think it's completely possible.

I recall that Cameron bought the land...I never heard anything about him building there. With how hollywood films are handled we would have heard something about a project by Cameron going into "production". The rumor mill will probably ramp up spring 2012 as that is when I predict they would start shooting for a 2013 release, fall/winter of 12/13 if they are going for 2014.

Considering how long the WETA stuff takes, I'd be surprised if they didn't do it on top of the last half of filming.

The rendering takes quite a lot of time due to the detail and resolution, but there is no reason they can't be rendering the first scenes shot while still filming the rest, particularly now they have everything tested and worked out from Avatar.

I suppose a number of different things could be going on. I didn't mean to suggest I believe this, I just hope it's true because if so, we could be more likely to start getting some news
