Exactly what I think. More ways to keep yourself on Pandora is never a bad thing.

I also prefer the forum, not because I don't like an avatar mmorpg...but how is it gonna be like? An online game filled with Jakes, Neytiries, and Quaritches? That's more like a nightmare to me.

No, at least not yet.

The Avatar Universe, as much potential as it has, is too small right now. I feel like with two more movies any MMO would have to wait (or have advance knowledge) to avoid creating a ret-con mess. Furthermore, most MMOs are complicated affairs with lots of classes. This really wouldn't work too well with the Na'vi as they are now. We don't know enough about them, and I'm afraid there would be things created that don't add to the universe, they would only exist for the game.

I mean, look how Avatar the Game threw the whole tsahaylu thing out, they also made Thanators almost pet-like! I just think a game would mess things up.

Why, oh why cannot they make an immersive single-player RPG based on Avatar?

*sighs...*

I'd like that too Eltu, but I wouldn't mind trying the MMO.

It feels like you only focus on the social aspects of the game and not the game experience. No game will ever be able to replace ToS for me. I don't think it should neither. I mean... who play MMO's only to converse with people? (Except roleplayers )

And this is a social forum. How would sociability ruin an avatar game?

I definitely wouldn't mind that. I just pray for it to be in 3rd person. (I'm not the Elder Scrolls 1st person type... )

Responding to this first...

Regarding a MMO...maybe if it was reportedly really good I'd give it a try, but I think for me it would feel ironic with the Avatar world - sitting in front of a computer pretending to be in a forest when after seeing the movie I have a huge ambition to visit earthly forests myself. (Though having said that, I probably shouldn't talk considering my attachment to ToS.)

Eltu, because a single player RPG will run out of content. An MMO will always have something new

If it was well done and generally fun, why not?

Do you feel that way about Avatar, too? It "runs out of content"?

For me, a game is a story, an experience - just like Avatar. It's not about the amount of content, it's about how much the content affects me. And I can gladly re-experience good single-player games over, and over.

LOVEAvatar: I'm not saying an Avatar MMO would be a bad game, and some may definitely be able to enjoy it - but it's nothing I'd be interested in, personally. To use a metaphor, it'd be like watching Avatar in the cinema with people around you constantly talking to each other and loudly commenting what's happening in the movie. Would totally ruin the experience.

I like experiencing a game all by myself. I like being able to immerse myself into a storyline without anyone else interrupting. I like being able to control the game (pause at any time, save at any time, etc.) - besides a great storyline and experience, all those things is what I look for in a game.

Thus, while an Avatar MMO may very well be a good game, I'd never want to play it.

This is EXACTLY what I think... I'd rather not get too involved, myself, when I could be out there, building shelters, starting campfires, making flint weapons and generally having a good time in real life.

The latest, most cutting edge RPG ever...

Hyper-realistic physics engine including real-time implementation of liquid simulation.
Real-time shadows, day/night cycle, plus in-game dates and calendar.
Over 6 billion character presets.
Infinte crafting/weapons customisation system.
And in complete 3D!

It's Real-life!

I'd be kind of interested in playing but... I'm afraid I'd realize one day that I'd spent 1000 hours on it so I probably wouldn't.

I wouldn't..Mainly because you have to enter into a subscription contract and you have to play for a amount of time that you choose such as a month or two. You still have to pay the fee even if you tire of it and don't play it. Also I don't want to be glued to a screen and not interact with both family and friends and my family here.

I'd rather go for TOS to socialise with you all and if I want a direct experience then I'd make a campfire or visit a forest similar to Fkeu's plan.

MMO? Ugh, no. I'll play it once it loses popularity and becomes free.
