Solian you look FANTASTIC! What kind of paint did you use and where did you get it? Is that a Reel Magik female face RM ears? I really like your wig. You said it was made from your guide in Boreno? That is way off on the cool scale. ) Did you paint yourself? Your lines are great. You know what I really like is way you put the dots on. You got them in the right pattern and size. Very hard to do and it takes time. Great attention to detail!! Brilliant!

Alright, well, the paint was just basic face paint that I got locally... Called Snazaroo if I remember right. It was pretty cheap stuff, but it was pretty difficult to get off, although it was running by the end of the night and (as you can see from the arms and neck bits of my t-shirt ) has a tendency to get everywhere. Kind of goes powdery when dry.

Anyway, for the tail, I made that myself. I had an old stuffed snake that I found when we were going to have a car boot sale, and it had an articulated plastic spine in it, so what I did was to use that, then I got a number of cotton wool balls and cut holes in the centre, and ran them over the top of the spine, so it was all kind of stuffed directly onto the tail. Then, I used a spare tight that a flatmate had, as a 'skin' over the top, pulling it over all of the length of the tail and fastening it with a rubber band at the top. Then, I simply painted it with acrylics. I did make a bit of a mistake there, though... I used too much paint so that when I tried to pose it, the 'skin' kind of folded up really badly. I think if i'm going to do it again, i'll remake the tail bit.

And yes, I did have yellow contacts in. Only 3 month temporary ones, again, bought locally. (Our whole flat basically just went down to the same shop at the same time and got pretty much everything there.

Thanks to you and everyne else for the compliments though... I think everyone else looks great, too. Especially loving the feather work, Solus.

Thank you so much for the kind words! The mask, ears and paint were all bought from Reelmagik, (its the female mask). I did the wig myself too. Bought a ordinary-looking wig on Amazon that I customised to make it look more Na'vi like. I cosplayed my own character, which was great since it gave me much more freedom with the design.

No I didn't make any accessories, you confused that with Fkeu'itan's. I will have accesories that I've done myself until Seattle though. I did most of the paint myself, only the back of my neck was I getting a bit of help with. I've drawn the Na'vi alot since the movie came out so I got a fairly good view on how the dots are organised and their size and such.

Details were all part of the costume. I wanted to impress, which I can fairly sure say I did... It was amazing.

Aww, thank you. In fact, I decided to use bobby pins to remove the bangs and I had to cover them with something, thus the feathers.

Yeah, the paint itself is quite good - I've used it before both for Avatar and others, but the main problem is that it doesn't have the right colour for Na'vi. If you use too much water in it, it comes off quite easily, but if you use less, it stays on really well - I used some when I saw Turisas and by the end, most people's paint had some off from sweat but mine was still visible. I think I'll get some better paint for next time I do my Na'vi costume though.

Is that a water based paint?

Very resourceful, and creative. It's a great story how you did it too. You ought to write short stories. You have a talent for getting an idea across and keeping the reader entranced.

Yeah her feather work looks very Na'vi.

Do you think you'll come to Seattle? Maybe a full body?

Great job!

It did come out very well, well done.

Where did you cosplay? A lot of people? Any other Na'vi/Drivers? Yeah doing your own character leaves it wide open.

Hurray your coming to Seattle!: I see that you already bought your ticket. they let you book that far in advance? They don't here.

Yeah to do yourself you need help. You find out real quick who you can count on, and is willing to take the time to do it. Are you coming full body? It takes about 4 to 6 hours. Some use sponges, brushes, or and air brushes.

I am QUITE impressed with your dots. I HOPE to do as good as you. You watched the movie very, very closely. 98% of people wouldn't have noticed what you did to get it right.

Yeah, it is... Although, it's really good quality paint considering it is... My hands were pretty blue for a good while after the party.

Heh, thank you very much.
I actually used this technique from a long, long time ago... My mum helped me make a tail for a haloween party back when I was very young - about 5 or so - and this painted tights technique was the same one she used back then (minus the articulation)... Just copied exactly the same technique as back then.

Uhm, not that I know of... I don't wear glasses or contacts usually, these were just for the colour.

You're quite welcome... In fact, i'm often left astounded at the quality of most cosplayers, especially considering some of them are working with a very low budget and/or little materials.

I really, REALLY would love to, but I just can't make it across the pond. I simply don't have enough money. And as a full-time student, it's set to be that way for a good number of years yet. It's regretful though, I think it would be an amazing experience to be there with so many other Na'vi.

P.S. Apologies for calling you Solus, Solian... That was my bad.

I was cosplaying at my local Halloween Party and it was a lot of people that had dressed up, but none related to Avatar, so I felt quite special. It was tons of fun though, since I put a lot of effort into my cosplay, so everyone was tremendously impressed.

Sure they do! The more earlier the more cheaper the price, I think. It was expensive, but it will be worth it!

Yeah, I'm doing full body. This costume was just a test/practise before Seattle.

Don't worry, Fkeu'itan. My username on Deviantart is Solus90 so I've been called Solus before.
